Phuket Town's Old Town is the best all-round dining area — authentic Phuket cuisine, great cafes, and competitive prices. Rawai seafood pier is unmissable for fresh seafood. Kamala and Surin have the best upscale restaurants. Patong has the most variety but also the most tourist traps.

What is Phuket's signature dish?

Mee hokkien (Hokkien-style stir-fried noodles) is the local specialty, reflecting Phuket's strong Chinese heritage. O-tao (oyster omelet) and lor bak (five-spice pork) are other Phuket-specific dishes. These are found in the Old Town and Thalang Road area, not tourist restaurants.

Is Phuket Town better for food than the beach areas?

Generally yes. Phuket Town has more authentic local restaurants, better prices, and a stronger food culture. The Old Town has become a destination in its own right for food. That said, beach areas like Rawai (seafood) and Kamala (upscale dining) have their own strengths.
