2025–2026 Trends & Changes
2025 saw Thailand's first annual decline in arrivals since the pandemic (-7.23% to 32.9M). 2026 has continued that trajectory through Q1 (-3.34% YoY through April 19). Here are the key drivers.
From 6.73M (2024) to 4.47M (2025). Factors include a high-profile actor abduction incident, broader economic slowdown in China, and dual-pricing complaints from Chinese travelers.
From 2.13M (2024) to 2.49M (2025). India is now the fastest-growing source market and #3 overall, partially offsetting Chinese declines.
With 4.50M arrivals in 2025, Malaysia narrowly overtook China (4.47M) as the top source market for the first time in several years.
The Tourism Authority revised its 2026 forecast to 30–34M arrivals (from an earlier 35.5M Ministry of Finance estimate), citing Middle East tensions, higher fuel prices, and continued Chinese weakness.
Introduced February 2026 for all international air arrivals. Revenue funds tourism infrastructure and visitor insurance.
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is required for all foreign nationals entering by air, land, or sea. File at tdac.immigration.go.th up to 72 hours before arrival.
