Restaurant Royd
Tucked along Thanon Dibuk near Phuket Old Town, Restaurant Royd is a fine dining destination built around an eight-course tasting menu that draws on the bold, aromatic flavours of southern Thailand. The kitchen incorporates traditional Thai flowers, herbs, and spices in ways that feel genuinely inventive rather than decorative, resulting in dishes that are both visually striking and deeply considered. Visitors regularly describe the experience as unlike anything they have encountered elsewhere, including at well-known establishments in other countries. The atmosphere at Royd extends well beyond the food. Every element of the dining room — from the music and scent to the furniture, colour palette, and textiles — reflects a deliberate aesthetic vision, creating an immersive evening rather than a simple meal. The team's warmth and attentiveness are frequently noted, adding a personal quality that complements the formality of the tasting format. The experience suits special occasions, food-focused travellers, or anyone looking for something more meaningful than a standard restaurant dinner. Good to know: Restaurant Royd operates Thursday through Monday, evenings only, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Given the tasting menu format and the restaurant's growing reputation, reservations are strongly advisable, particularly during Phuket's peak tourist season. Prospective diners should visit the official website at restaurantroyd.com to review the current menu, confirm availability, and book a table in advance.

Visitor Reviews
Dining at this remarkable establishment for their eight-course tasting menu was nothing short of a revelation. Each dish, artfully crafted, embraced a delightful spiciness, meticulously balanced by the attentive staff. They graciously provided the option to separate the spicy sauce, allowing us to customize our dishes to our personal preferences—a thoughtful touch that truly elevated the dining experience. The harmonious interplay between bold flavors and intricate presentation was commendable, crafting an enjoyable journey from start to finish. The head chef took the time to engage with us, sharing insights into his creative process and the inspirations behind each course. His evident passion for culinary artistry added a rich layer to the overall ambiance of the evening. This experience stands as a testament to culinary excellence, worthy not only of a place in the Michelin guide but also of the highest accolades from discerning food lovers. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to any culinary enthusiast eager to explore a symphony of flavors presented with artistry and care.
We had so much fun during our dinner at Royd on this trip. I’ve tried Michelin star restaurants in the US, and while I thought that was a fun experience, the dinner at Royd is a much more engaging experience. It is luxurious without the stuffiness The hospitality is warm, staff is sharp, attentive, and witty. The devil is in the details with these experiences. My husband jokes that I’m thinking of reasons to justify the price🤣, so let me be frank, Royd is not your casual dinner plan. It really should be for a special reason because the experience is so special. Chef is a genius with the flavors, and I nerd out on food so the explanation of the local ingredients from the staff is one of my favorite parts. Menu offerings rotate - our visit this time features his best dishes, and as hubby states it, we’re trying different Southern Thai dishes in small bites (with elevated execution). If you want a special evening for your Phuket trip, Royd is highly recommended.
We had an amazing experience at Royd. The food was truly unique and beautifully presented. They use traditional Thai flowers and aromatic spices in a very creative way, which made every dish special and full of character. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. Some of the dishes were quite spicy for not locals, but it was perfectly fine because the menu clearly indicated the spice level. However, for people who are sensitive to spicy food, it’s important to pay attention to the spice markings or ask the staff for guidance. Overall, a must-visit restaurant in Phuket for anyone who wants to experience authentic Thai cuisine with a refined and !modern touch Highly recommended!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
