Thai Thai Restaurant

4.8(378 reviews)

Tucked away on Soi Ta-iad in the Chalong district, this unassuming family-run restaurant has built a devoted following among both long-stay visitors and locals drawn to its genuinely traditional Thai cooking. The plain exterior and modest signage belie the quality inside — repeat visits are common, with some diners returning multiple times a week throughout extended stays in Phuket, and others making the drive from across the island specifically for the food. The menu leans into Thai classics executed with care. Standout dishes highlighted by regulars include the chicken satay, massaman curry, and green curry with chicken, the latter praised for its generous vegetables and quality meat. The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious, suiting solo travellers, couples, and families alike. Being situated in a residential pocket of Chalong, away from the main tourist strips, contributes to the restaurant's local character and keeps the focus firmly on the food rather than the surroundings. Thai Thai Restaurant opens daily from 9:30am to 10:00pm, making it a practical option for late lunches or evening meals throughout the week. Given its popularity, arriving before the peak dinner rush — typically around 7:00pm — is advisable for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. Up-to-date menu information and any daily specials can be found on the restaurant's Facebook page before visiting.

Visitor Reviews

We had the most delicious meals in Thailand here. Don’t be misled by the plain exterior or the lack of a flashy sign. If what you’re looking for is TASTE, you should definitely give this family-run place a try. We went there for lunch on two different days and were very satisfied. The prices are reasonable, and the people are honest and friendly. Also, throughout our entire trip we had mango sticky rice whenever we had the chance, but the one here was the most delicious. My wife also really loved the ice-cold fresh coconut juice. Plus, everytime when we are leaving there, the little girl and her mother give us 1 packege sliced fresh pineapple. Thank you for your lovely gift! We wish we can come again.

My partner and I came here several times a week during our 8-week stay in Phuket last year. We even drove all the way from Old Town just to eat here, because the Thai food was so delicious and authentic. Now that we’re back in Phuket this year, we visited ThaiThai again — and nothing has changed. The food is still incredibly tasty, fresh, and served in generous portions. The service is friendly, fast, and always with a smile. Absolutely 100% recommended!

Amazing food! This place was not on my list and glad it was my first stop because I will be back! I had the green curry with chicken and it was delicious. Full of vegetables and quality white chicken meat. When I travel I am always hesitant with chicken as often very grisly. This was so clean, flavour full and filling. You cannot beat the price 110 baht for the curry and 20 for rice. Bargain for the quality. I will definitely be back!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
