Pots & Pans Restaurant
Tucked along Thanon Ratsada in the heart of Phuket Town, this well-regarded Thai restaurant has quietly built a loyal following among both locals and visiting travellers. Despite its understated presence, repeat visitors frequently note surprise at how uncrowded it remains given the quality on offer, with some drawing comparisons to the standard of Phuket's recognised fine dining establishments. The kitchen demonstrates particular strength in Thai classics executed with care. Standout dishes frequently mentioned by diners include crispy chicken with basil, pad thai with shrimp, shrimp crackers, and a striking mango sticky rice served in three colours and flavours. The chef shows genuine flexibility — on one noted occasion, separating a red curry into mild and spicy portions for a table's differing preferences. The service matches the food in attentiveness; staff are described as kind and proactive, with one waitress noticed a guest feeling cold and offered a table change unprompted. The restaurant also has a track record of accommodating dietary requirements, including serious allergies. Good to know: Pots and Pans opens daily from noon until 11 PM, making it a reliable option for both lunch and late dinner throughout the week. Walk-ins appear manageable even on weekday evenings, though as word spreads this may change. Travellers with specific dietary needs are encouraged to communicate these clearly when ordering, as the kitchen has shown willingness to adapt. The restaurant sits conveniently close to Phuket Town's night market, making it a natural dining stop during an evening exploring the old town area.

Visitor Reviews
We went here on a Thursday. It was not very busy at that time. After eating there, I am very confused why it’s not fully packed because the food was amazing. The pad thai with shrimp and the shrimp croquettes were very tasty. The pad thai had a sweet sauce. Personally I would have liked some more nuts to add as a topping but other than that the food was great. Service was good and fast. We had two drinks, two appetisers and two main dishes and it was a lot of food haha. Unfortunately, we could not finish it all.
I came here as I had a look at the menu when walking by and found it delightful. The young waitress was incredibly kind and attentive; she suggested to change the table when she noted that I felt cold nearby the aircon. Her service was swift and efficient. The appetizer (fish cakes) and the main course (spicy duck curry) were perfect: tastefully plated and very delicious. Too bad that it was my last evening- I would have come back for the other meals and the lovely service!
The food is exceptional. We loved the crispy chicken with Basil. We ordered red curry and the chef/owner separated it into two - one mild and one spicy! The mango sticky rice in three colors and flavors is a must. Great dinner, service and ambience. We will return!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
