Yunomori Onsen & Spa Sukhumvit Soi 26

4.5(5,172 reviews)

Tucked into Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 26, this Japanese-style onsen operates as a genuine public bath in the tradition of Japan, offering a rare and considered wellness experience within the city. Men's and women's bathing areas are kept fully separate, and the facilities include multiple thermal pools at varying temperatures, cold plunge pools, a steam sauna, and a 90-degree dry sauna — a full thermal circuit that draws regular visitors back consistently. The atmosphere leans toward the serene, with warm mineral waters and a zen ambiance that visitors frequently describe as genuinely transporting. Traditional milk drinks available after bathing add a further authentic touch.

The spa menu extends beyond the onsen itself, with massage packages available for those seeking a more complete treatment, though the pools and sauna circuit alone are reason enough for many to visit. This Sukhumvit branch is slightly more compact than the Yunomori Sathorn location, which is worth considering when choosing between the two.

A lovely experience. If you are British like me, it’s a naked sauna and you only have a small square towel to get in. Process - go in, get undressed and you take the small towel as a cover, wash at the small basins through the door. You just have to get over being naked. You can wear the cool robes when you leave the Onsen area, in the cafe etc. you can also go back in as many times as you like, you can get a cool face towel and new towels each time you enter. The pools are very very hot, and the cold ones almost freezing so use the shower on coldest setting. Note - busy in the afternoons and evening, so go on a morning or weekday afternoon for a quieter experience. Enjoy!

Excellent place. Feels like in Japan. I only used the Onsen. 3 different Onsen pools and 2 cold water pools. A steam sauna and a 90degree sauna. After sauna you can drink the typical milk products offered in Japan. There is also a restaurant with a delicious looking menu and various massage/SPA packages offered on the 2nd floor. Went there every day I stayed in Bangkok.

I’ve been visiting Yunomori Onsen on Sukhumvit Soi 26 regularly, and I really enjoy the onsen facilities. However, my first experience with their onsen + massage package was disappointing enough that I need to share it. I hope this feedback helps them improve their processes. Called ahead to book a 90-min foot massage, figuring I’d do it first then chill in the onsen without rushing, a nice way to enjoy the new year holiday. So I walked in and bam 💥 they only let you do onsen BEFORE massage, no flipping it. Staff said it’s cuz massage oil messes up the water, but come on, foot massage barely uses any oil, and you’ve got showers right before the baths anyway. How do they even know if someone just came from another spa down the street all oiled up? If this is such a big deal, why not mention it during booking, or add a quick sniff test/check for all clients? Business is business, but these rigid rules just limit the client experience so much—they’re better off sticking to onsen-only visits instead of bundling massages that kill the flexibility. Felt like I got blindsided. The massage was average for the price. Worse, I got 60 min massage instead of 90. Pointed it out after, they checked and offered to go back to complete the massage time or refund, of course I would choose the refund as the experience was soured and I wanted to go. Then, as I was leaving, another staff member stopped me with a receipt for 60 minutes (proving they were “right” per payment) and tried to claw back the refund. It highlighted sloppy internal checks. Total chaos, no coordination between front desk folks. Very bad experience‼️ It’s frustrating cuz the onsen is great otherwise, but this massage add-on? Would’ve been perfect with some common sense flexibility.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
