EmQuartier
Spread across several interconnected blocks along Sukhumvit Road in the Watthana district, EmQuartier is one of Bangkok's more architecturally distinctive shopping centres, designed to feel more like a neighbourhood to explore than a conventional mall. Retail spans international brands, contemporary fashion, and luxury labels, while a Gourmet Market and Tops supermarket cater to everyday needs — making it a practical stop for both short-stay visitors and longer-term residents. The dining offer is a genuine highlight. Restaurants and eateries occupy the upper floors, several of them set among lush greenery on Babylonian hanging garden-style terraces that create an atmosphere unlike most urban malls. Seasonal decorations rotate throughout the year, giving repeat visitors reason to return, and the well-maintained interior adds to the overall appeal. EmQuartier connects directly to BTS Phrom Phong station, making it easy to reach without navigating Sukhumvit Road traffic. The adjacent Emporium mall is linked by walkway and the two can comfortably be visited together in a single outing. The air-conditioned interior makes it a practical refuge during Bangkok's hot season from March to May and the wet months that follow. Weekday afternoons are noticeably quieter than weekends for those who prefer a more relaxed visit.

Visitor Reviews
EmQuartier is one of Bangkok’s most vibrant and well-designed shopping malls, seamlessly blending luxury retail, lifestyle concepts, and dining into a visually striking space. Its modern architecture, split across multiple zones and connected by sky bridges, makes exploring the mall a fun and dynamic experience rather than a routine shopping trip. The mall offers an excellent mix of international luxury brands, contemporary fashion labels, and beauty stores, catering to both high-end shoppers and trend-focused visitors. One of EmQuartier’s strongest highlights is its F&B lineup, with a wide range of restaurants, cafés, dessert spots, and bars—especially along the Helix and upper levels—making it a popular destination for dining at any time of the day. The Sky Garden and open-air elements add a refreshing touch, providing a relaxing break from shopping and a pleasant contrast to fully enclosed malls. Despite being consistently busy, the mall is well managed, clean, and easy to navigate, with good facilities and professional service throughout. Overall, EmQuartier is still a destination for shopping, dining, meeting friends, or simply enjoying the lively city atmosphere. A well-balanced mall among Bangkok’s top shopping destinations.
One of my favorite shopping destinations in Bangkok is EmQuartier. The mall stands out not only for its modern design but also for the beautifully curated decorations that change throughout the seasons. The architecture feels open and airy, with plenty of natural light and well-designed spaces that make walking around comfortable and enjoyable. What I appreciate most is the balance between shopping and dining. There is a wide selection of brands, from international labels to local designers, making it easy to spend hours browsing. At the same time, the food options are equally impressive. Whether you’re looking for casual bites, trendy cafés, or more refined restaurants, the variety ensures a satisfying experience for different tastes. The overall atmosphere feels vibrant yet organized, never too overwhelming despite being a popular mall. It’s a place where you can shop, enjoy good food, and simply spend quality time with family or friends. For me, EmQuartier offers a complete and enjoyable Bangkok lifestyle experience all in one destination
One of the most interesting and well-designed shopping malls in Bangkok. EmQuartier is divided into several different blocks connected by walkways and terraces, which makes exploring the mall feel much more dynamic than a typical shopping center. The variety of stores is huge. You can find everything from luxury brands and international fashion to smaller boutiques, cafés, and restaurants. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours just walking around and discovering new spots. One of the highlights is the garden area and outdoor terraces, which add a lot of character to the complex. The greenery and open spaces make it feel much more relaxed compared to most malls in the city. Overall, a beautifully designed shopping center with a massive variety of shops, good food options, and some very unique architectural details. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Bangkok.
Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
