Sense Onsen Suandok Wellness & Spa
Tucked along Suan Dok Road in central Chiang Mai, this wellness centre brings Japanese onsen culture to northern Thailand, blending therapeutic hot spring bathing with professional massage and spa treatments. The combination sets it apart from conventional Thai spas in the city, offering visitors a more comprehensive approach to relaxation that draws on multiple Eastern wellness traditions. Inside, guests find a thoughtfully designed space that reviewers consistently describe as chic, clean, and genuinely tranquil. The onsen pools are maintained at a comfortable temperature, and the spa offers a range of treatments including foot massage and full-body massage, with private rooms available for couples. Visitors receive welcome drinks on arrival and drinks following their treatments, and the facility includes on-site parking, a practical detail that makes it easier to reach than many spas in the city centre. The centre opens daily from 11:00am to 10:00pm, giving visitors flexibility to visit either before or after exploring Chiang Mai's nearby temples and attractions. Walk-ins are occasionally accommodated, but availability is not guaranteed, and booking in advance is strongly recommended, particularly during peak travel season. Current treatment menus and pricing are listed on the venue's website at sensemassagespa.com.

Visitor Reviews
Me and my husband had a great and relaxing experience at Sense Onsen Suan Dok! We came in without reservation, however we were fortunate that there was a no-show so we were able to proceed with the Onsen + Thai Yoga Massage package right away. They are very courteous and gave us welcome tea while waiting. Take note, the Onsen room is private. Right after the Onsen we proceeded with the Thai Yoga Massage which had a couple of stretches which is very relieving for those with lower back issues. Afterwards there is a relaxing hot tea and cookies to cap off your visit. A must-try for couples and travelers looking for a quick escape in Chiang Mai!
Genuinely the best spa experience I’ve had in all of Thailand. To start, the vibe of the spa is amazing. Super chic, clean, and very relaxing. The Onsen was amazing as well, the perfect temperature and very relaxing. There is a fan in there if you get too hot. I also got a deep hot oil massage with Nana. She is the best masseuse. She applied the perfect amount of pressure and did extra work on the areas I wanted. Highly recommend Sense Onsen, best spa in Chiang Mai!
Tucked away in an alley ...this is really an oasis of tranquillity and relaxation. I did the foot massage with my husband in a private room. Goodness, I literally fell asleep during the 1 hour of pampering and therapy. I felt all the acupuncture points were unblocked. The massuse is so skilful yet gentle. Highly, highly recommend if you are coming to Chiang Mai.

Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
