Sanay Rooftop Bar Khaosan
Perched above the famous chaos of Khao San Road, Sanay Rooftop Bar sits within The Gravitique Hotel on Thanon Tani and offers a genuinely different pace to the neighbourhood below. The elevated setting catches a natural breeze and opens up views across the Phra Nakhon district, making it a popular choice for those who want to enjoy the Khao San energy without being fully immersed in it. The cocktail list draws consistent praise from visitors, with creative, well-crafted drinks — the Thai Sabai cocktail comes particularly recommended — alongside a food menu substantial enough to support a full evening rather than just a drink stop.
The atmosphere leans casual but noticeably more refined than street-level bars in the area, attracting a relaxed mix of travellers and locals. Service is a recurring highlight in visitor feedback, with staff described as attentive and welcoming. The bar also serves food of a standard that surprises many guests, making it a viable dinner option as well as a drinks venue.
Sanay opens daily at 15:00, which makes it well-suited for sunset visits — arriving around that time allows guests to settle in before the evening crowd builds and to catch the transition from daylight to Bangkok's illuminated skyline. The bar stays open until 02:00 every night of the week. Smart casual clothing fits the rooftop setting comfortably. On busy Friday and Saturday nights, arriving early is advisable to secure good seating.

The SANAY Rooftop Bar is absolutely amazing! The service is top-notch, very attentive and welcoming. The food is outstanding, full of flavor, and the cocktails are incredibly tasty and perfectly crafted. A very special shout-out goes to Ann — she is by far the best waitress in Bangkok, if not all of Thailand. Super friendly, professional, and always smiling. She truly makes the experience unforgettable. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back 🍹✨
Best Chill Spot in Khaosan" It's the perfect rooftop to escape the street's madness. Great views, cool breeze, and super tasty food. The staff are lovely. Whether you’re grabbing a drink or a full meal, this place never misses. Love it!
The best service and atmosphere we have had in Bangkok. Stayed at a cpl places and had dinner at Michelin rated places. This has been as good if not better, thanks to our host Ann.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
