Rooftop Chiang Rai
Perched above an Oji Bubble Tea shop on Suk Sathit Road, this compact rooftop bar sits just steps from Chiang Rai's famous clocktower roundabout, making it one of the more strategically located spots in the city for an evening drink. Reached via a couple of flights of stairs — with a striking red landing along the way — the bar opens up across two levels, offering open-air seating and views toward the clocktower below. The drinks menu is concise but well-priced, with cocktails like the Vodka Berry drawing repeat praise from visitors. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, with staff noted for being friendly and accommodating. A limited food menu is available, though most guests come primarily for the drinks and the setting rather than a full meal. One thing worth noting is that sunset views are partially blocked by a large billboard, so expectations around that should be managed accordingly. For timing, the clocktower light show runs at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm each evening, and the rooftop offers a solid vantage point for watching it without the crowds at street level. The bar opens at 5pm daily and closes at 11:30pm, giving plenty of time to settle in before the show begins. It has also proven a popular spot for seasonal events, including New Year's Eve fireworks viewing.

Visitor Reviews
Unique, rooftop bar right by the clock tower roundabout. Good views, great value, friendly and flexible service. Limited food menu but all good - Best spot to watch the 2022 countdown fireworks!! A must go in Chiangrai.
Great bar near the clocktower up 2 flights of stairs Friendly staff and inexpensive drinks
Awesome rooftop bar and a great place to watch the clocktower light show! We primarily came here to view the clocktower light show (7pm, 8pm or 9pm), but were pleasantly surprised with how cool the bar was. It has a very industrial and minimal feel, with a higher rooftop level with better views of the clocktower. The two middle inside floors were not in use, but a made for a good photo opportunity on the way up/down.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
