Kodam Kitchen branch 1

4.7(10,224 reviews)$$$$

The curries are the reason to come. Green, Massaman, Penang, all rich and fragrant, and the sort of thing people order twice in one holiday. Add chicken satay, spring rolls, Pad Thai and the seafood, and you've got a menu long enough that a table of four can order badly and still eat well. Prices sit firmly in the budget bracket, which is the other half of the appeal.

The room is big and airy and gets loud in a good way rather than a chaotic one. Service moves fast even when every table's full. If you want calm and a view instead, there's a second branch nearer the beach that reviewers rate as the prettier of the two, with a shuttle running between them.

Reviews from Google

This restaurant fully deserves its spot on every "Top Restaurants in Ao Nang" list. Located very close to the main Ao Nang Market, it's easy to spot and offers convenient parking (space for 4-5 cars, plus ample street parking typical of Thailand). The cuisine here is nothing short of fantastic and truly unforgettable. We tried several dishes, and all were superb, but the highlight is undoubtedly their curry. It possesses a deep, complex flavor profile—it’s very reminiscent of the best South Indian and Sri Lankan tastes, yet distinctly unique and absolutely hits the spot. The menu is extensive, offering plenty of excellent options to choose from. My only minor nitpick (and I mean minor, as I’ve had one of the best ever in Koh Samui) was the Mango Sticky Rice, but this is honestly a small detail compared to the excellence of everything else. The staff is prompt, incredibly helpful, and understands basic English well, making ordering a breeze. They genuinely assist you through the menu, ensuring a great experience. We enjoyed sitting on the bench outside near the entrance, taking in the atmosphere. The prices are perfectly commensurate with the quality of the food and the overall experience you receive. It's a fantastic culinary investment for anyone visiting Ao Nang. If you love curry, this is a non-negotiable stop!

Visited Kodam Kitchen in Krabi and absolutely loved it. One of the best places for seafood in the area. fresh, well cooked, and full of flavor. Their Pad Thai was excellent, perfectly balanced and authentic. We also tried their authentic Thai drinks, which were very refreshing and unique. The place is very busy, but the service was still friendly and efficient. A must visit spot in Krabi if you want real local taste and great seafood. Highly recommended!

Great value price ratio and delicious traditional Thai food. If you don't want to wait hours, better reserve. The second brach at the beach some km's away is much more peaceful and super beautiful. A shuttle service is available.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
