Kodam Kitchen branch 1
A well-established casual dining spot on Thanon Khlong Hang in Ao Nang, this first branch of Kodam Kitchen has built a strong following among both tourists and locals for its broad menu of traditional Thai dishes served at budget-friendly prices. Conveniently situated close to the main Ao Nang Market, it is straightforward to find and offers limited on-site parking for around four to five cars. The menu covers a wide range of Thai classics, with returning visitors frequently highlighting the green curry, Massaman curry, Penang curry, chicken satay, spring rolls, Pad Thai, and fresh seafood dishes. The kitchen delivers these with noted consistency, and the relaxed atmosphere suits solo travellers, couples, and families equally well. For those seeking a quieter setting, Kodam Kitchen also operates a second branch closer to the beach, which reviewers describe as more peaceful and scenic. Open every day from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM, the restaurant covers lunch through to late dinner without closing. It is a popular choice and wait times during peak hours can be considerable, so making a reservation in advance is strongly recommended, particularly for dinner. Arriving mid-afternoon is a practical way to avoid queues and experience a more relaxed visit.

Visitor Reviews
This restaurant fully deserves its spot on every "Top Restaurants in Ao Nang" list. Located very close to the main Ao Nang Market, it's easy to spot and offers convenient parking (space for 4-5 cars, plus ample street parking typical of Thailand). The cuisine here is nothing short of fantastic and truly unforgettable. We tried several dishes, and all were superb, but the highlight is undoubtedly their curry. It possesses a deep, complex flavor profile—it’s very reminiscent of the best South Indian and Sri Lankan tastes, yet distinctly unique and absolutely hits the spot. The menu is extensive, offering plenty of excellent options to choose from. My only minor nitpick (and I mean minor, as I’ve had one of the best ever in Koh Samui) was the Mango Sticky Rice, but this is honestly a small detail compared to the excellence of everything else. The staff is prompt, incredibly helpful, and understands basic English well, making ordering a breeze. They genuinely assist you through the menu, ensuring a great experience. We enjoyed sitting on the bench outside near the entrance, taking in the atmosphere. The prices are perfectly commensurate with the quality of the food and the overall experience you receive. It's a fantastic culinary investment for anyone visiting Ao Nang. If you love curry, this is a non-negotiable stop!
Kodam Kitchen was so good that we came back three times — and would have happily returned again. The menu is extensive, offering a great variety of Thai dishes, all well prepared and full of flavor. The space is large, airy, and lively without feeling chaotic, making it a very pleasant place to spend a relaxed evening. Service is efficient, and the overall atmosphere feels authentic rather than overly touristy. Another highlight is the pricing: excellent value for the quality and portions served. A place we would absolutely recommend and return to on our next visit to Krabi.
Visited Kodam Kitchen in Krabi and absolutely loved it. One of the best places for seafood in the area. fresh, well cooked, and full of flavor. Their Pad Thai was excellent, perfectly balanced and authentic. We also tried their authentic Thai drinks, which were very refreshing and unique. The place is very busy, but the service was still friendly and efficient. A must visit spot in Krabi if you want real local taste and great seafood. Highly recommended!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
