- Hours
- Fri–Sun 17:00–22:00
- Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
- Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Three nights a week is all you get here, so plan around it. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 5pm to 10pm, and if you're in Krabi Town on a Tuesday you're out of luck. That scarcity is part of why it works. Locals turn up to eat rather than to be photographed eating, which is more than you can say for a lot of night markets in this country.
The food zone is the reason to come. Stalls sit side by side selling Thai dishes in small portions, which is the ideal setup for someone who wants to try six things instead of committing to one. Portions are generous for what you pay, and beer costs less than it would at a restaurant down the road. There's live music, there are clothes and souvenir stalls, but I'd treat those as something to browse between plates rather than the main event.
Get there near 5pm if you can. It's cooler, the queues are shorter, and you can see what you're buying before the crowd thickens.

The best market we visited while in Thailand. Not as touristy as other cities, you actually see locals eat everywhere and the prices are cheaper too. Had some good food with nice portions :)
Beer at the market cheaper than the restaurant. Nice vibe throughout.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
Claim Your VAT Refund
Spend 2,000+ THB at a single store displaying 'VAT Refund for Tourists' signs, get a yellow form at the register, and claim 7% VAT back at the airport. It adds up fast on bigger purchases.
