Schluck Restaurant Kanchanaburi
A welcome change of pace from the standard Kanchanaburi dining scene, this European restaurant on Mahidol Road serves classic Western dishes — including lasagne, spaghetti Bolognese, pizza, filet mignon, and pork chops — with generous portions and reasonable prices. The interior evokes a cosy, European-style atmosphere that solo travellers and couples tend to find particularly welcoming, and the friendly service draws repeat visitors across multiple nights. The menu leans toward familiar European comfort food rather than fusion experimentation, so diners should expect straightforward Western cooking rather than Thai-inflected dishes. Standout mentions from visitors include the beef lasagne, pizza, and coffee. Portion sizes are consistently noted as large and filling, making it good value for the price point. Seasoning is on the mild side, which suits some palates but may feel understated for those expecting bold flavours. Good to know: Opening hours vary slightly by day — the restaurant opens at 9:00 AM on Mondays but not until 11:00 AM Tuesday through Sunday, closing at 7:45 PM each evening. Tuesday is the only closed day. Parking is available around the back of the building. Check the Facebook page before visiting for current menu details and any updates to hours or specials.

Visitor Reviews
Nice meals and atmosphere. Im a solo traveler and came here each night for dinner. It was cosy, friendly, excellent service and food
Nice and cosy restaurant. Beef lasagne was very good and the pizza was fantastic. Reasonable prices for good quality food
Schluk has a pretty good menu. We had a filet mignon and a pork chop. Pork chop was a bit sweet and over tenderised, but it was fine. Prices were reasonable. The coffee was very good. They have European beers and other drinks at fair prices. It presents a very cool, pleasant relaxing, environment. Music wasn't loud and the ambience was just what I wanted.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
