BARRUB Kanchanaburi
Perched along the river in the Ban Tai area of central Kanchanaburi, BARRUB is a large outdoor bar and restaurant with a setting that genuinely earns attention. The venue sits with direct views toward the historical Bridge over the River Kwai, making it a natural stop for travellers already exploring the area's landmarks. A live band plays in the evenings, and the open-air design gives the place a relaxed, social atmosphere that draws a mix of locals and visitors. The menu covers Thai staples alongside drinks, and while some dishes have landed well with guests, food quality and service consistency appear to vary depending on how busy the venue gets. Waits for both ordering and food delivery have been noted on busier nights, so arriving with patience — or early in the evening — is worthwhile. The riverside setting and the live music are consistently the standout draws, and the venue itself is described as well-designed and relatively new. Good to know: BARRUB is open every day from 10:00 AM to midnight, which makes it viable for a late afternoon drink or a full evening out. However, some visitors have flagged that posted opening times do not always reflect when the venue is actually operating, so checking their Linktree page before heading over is a practical precaution, especially if you are planning around the live music.

Visitor Reviews
Awesome chilled eats and drinks in a beautiful setting by the river. Food was fantastic, live music and great service. The venue seems brand new and it's well designed with views of the historical bridge. Ended up going there two nights in a row and also stopped by during the day for a coffee which was also good.
Big outdoor bar next to the river with live band in the evening. Service is okay if they are not too busy. We waited a long time to get the food served, but it tasted good. Can be crowded at times so don't arrive too late. The band playing that evening was terrible.
nice for a quiet drink along the river. deceptive opening times

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
