JJ Night Market Kanchanaburi
Running every night of the week from 5 PM to 10 PM, this bustling flea market in the Ban Tai area of central Kanchanaburi draws a lively mix of locals and travellers looking for an authentic evening out. The market is particularly well-placed for those staying along River Kwai Road, and is within easy walking distance of the train station, making it a convenient first stop after arriving from Bangkok. Food is the main draw, with vendors serving grilled meats, noodle dishes, hoy tod (oyster omelette), desserts, and a wide range of Thai street food to suit most palates. Alongside the food stalls, casual clothing, accessories, and merchandise round out the browsing options. The atmosphere is energetic and can feel quite stimulating during peak hours, with tightly packed stalls and busy crowds typical of Thailand's night markets. Good to know: The market operates on an open-air site, so vendors may pack up early on rainy evenings — arriving before 6 PM helps beat both the crowds and any weather disruptions. Seating is limited and bins are scarce, so be prepared to eat standing or walking. Bring small cash notes, as card payments are not standard here. Comfortable shoes are recommended for navigating the busy stalls.

Visitor Reviews
Great night market. Very convenient if you are staying in the River Kwai road area. On rainy nights the vendors may pack up early so plan accordingly. Pro tips: there is a Hoy Tod seller towards the back left corner that makes delicious food as well as a Laarb seller in the middle left. The sellers form a corridor that causes you to go around like a maze, I recommend that you do an entire lap and look at everything and then double back and make your purchases. Then if there is anything else you need you can hit seben right across the street. I go to this JJ market every time I visit Kanchanaburi now!
Didn't take photos of the stalls or the food we bought ("plenty" on both counts), but I hope you'll believe me when I say that this market rocks. Get off the train from Bangkok, walk out of the station, and get lost in the maze of shops. Don't forget to check out the covered area to try something really local: century eggs wrapped in fish paste, and deep fried. Yes. A strange combination, but it works. Have fun!
Such a good night market, there's almost anything for everyone. Too bad today is raining. You can get lots of great food, for almost every palate and every taste. Also the non food item stalls are a plenty... Will try come back if there is no rain. Really enjoyed my short time visiting.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
