Safari Park Kanchanaburi

4.3(5,911 reviews)

Set in the Bo Phloi district of Kanchanaburi province, this open-air safari park offers a drive-through wildlife experience where animals move freely around visitor vehicles and tour buses rather than being confined to enclosures. The giraffes are a consistent standout, approaching vehicles closely enough to feed by hand from the window — an interaction that regularly draws the strongest reactions from visitors. The drive-through portion covers designated zones and typically takes two to three hours, making it a workable half-day activity that pairs naturally with nearby attractions such as the Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Railway. The park is divided into at least two sections. The drive-through safari is the clear highlight, while a secondary area featuring animal shows receives more mixed feedback from visitors, so it is worth calibrating expectations for the full experience accordingly. Adults and older children tend to get the most from the format, as the close proximity of large animals can be a lot for very young children to handle. Safari Park Kanchanaburi appears on several organised day tours bookable through platforms such as Klook, which is a practical option for those without a private vehicle. Specific opening hours and pricing are not consistently available online, so confirming details directly with a tour operator or locally before making the trip is advisable. Morning visits are generally preferable, both for cooler temperatures and to avoid larger crowds later in the day. Weekday visits tend to be quieter than weekends.

Visitor Reviews

I visited Kanchanaburi Safari Park recently and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The park offers a unique chance to get extremely close to the animals, especially the giraffes, which was definitely the highlight of the visit. Being able to feed them from the safari bus and take photos up close is something you don’t get in most places. The giraffes are gentle and curious, making it fun for both adults and kids. The safari drive-through section is interesting as well, with a good variety of animals such as deer, zebras, ostriches, and camels. The ride is smooth, and the staff make sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy the feeding and photo moments. The views around the park are also beautiful, with greenery and mountains in the background adding to the overall atmosphere. That said, some areas of the park could be improved. A few enclosures look a little older and may benefit from future upgrades. Also, expect it to be quite crowded during weekends and holidays, especially around the giraffe-feeding zone. Despite these minor points, it’s still a memorable and family-friendly attraction worth visiting. If you enjoy animal encounters and want an up-close experience, Kanchanaburi Safari Park is definitely worth checking out.

Visited the drive-through safari at Safari Park Kanchanaburi and it was a very unique experience. We got super close to the animals and even had the chance to feed them from the car, which made it really memorable. It was extremely hot during the day, so I’d recommend coming early in the morning for a more comfortable visit. Definitely worth the trip!

Visited the Safari Park (as part of the Kanchanaburi Safari, Bridge over the river Kwai & death railway tour booked on Klook). Nice time at the Safari park. The giraffes 🦒 were definitely the highlight of the park. AMAZING experience being so close to the giraffes, hilarious 😂 Didn't particularly enjoy the crocodile or elephant shows, does not seem ethical knowing what they do to the animals to make them perform. The restaurant at the park was very authentic.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
