The Dorm Hostel
Tucked along Montri Road in the heart of Phuket Town, this hostel draws budget-conscious travellers and backpackers looking for a sociable base away from the busy beach resort strips. The central Talat Yai location puts guests within easy reach of local restaurants, street food, independent shops, and public transport connections, making it a practical choice for those keen to explore authentic Phuket beyond the tourist-heavy coastal areas. Guests consistently highlight the thoughtfully designed dorm beds, which offer a degree of privacy unusual for shared accommodation, with built-in fans helping combat the tropical heat. The hostel also features a shared kitchen, laundry facilities, and a generally clean communal environment. Staff receive frequent praise for being welcoming and attentive, contributing to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere the property is known for. Couples are also catered for, with double bed options available. Good to know: Reviews mention mixed experiences, including an isolated report of bed bugs, so inspecting your sleeping area on arrival is advisable. As facilities and booking policies are not published online, contacting the hostel directly before arrival is recommended to confirm room availability, current amenities, and any house rules. The Phuket Town location suits independent travellers seeking a local neighbourhood feel rather than beachfront convenience, so factor in travel time if beach days are a priority.

Visitor Reviews
Really nice modern hostel. The lady who checked me in was friendly and kind. The beds were private and each had a built in fan, which was nice because I sleep hot. I accidentally slept in several times because the bed was so dark and cozy. The little souvenir with my name on it was a nice touch. The breakfast was simple but enough for me. Will stay again if I’m ever in the area!
Such friendly staff! Felt really welcome. Bed comfy and felt private- including double bed, which is great as a couple. Very clean, good space to store items, washers and dryers in the building, breakfast included was small but nice especially when you factor in the price of the stay. Great location to the old town and a good place to base yourself! Loved it here :)
The dorm of this hostel offers clean beds that feel as if you were in separate rooms. The bathroom and kitchen are pretty clean for the amount of people there are. The location is also pretty good, as it is between popular neighborhoods (the old Phuket) and more local neighborhoods (with plenty of night markets). However, the lockers had ants.
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
