W168 Hostel – Sleep & Store for Less
Tucked along Montri Road in the heart of Phuket Old Town, W168 Hostel – Sleep & Store for Less is a charming budget accommodation that has earned a loyal following among independent travellers visiting the island. Its prime location puts guests within easy reach of the neighbourhood's colourful Sino-Portuguese shophouses, local eateries, and cultural landmarks, making it a practical and characterful base for exploring Phuket beyond the beach. The hostel offers dormitory-style rooms equipped with air conditioning, fans, and blackout curtains, keeping things cool and comfortable regardless of the time of day. Housekeeping attends to beds daily, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. A female-only dorm is available for solo women travellers seeking added peace of mind. Beyond accommodation, the property also functions as a tour and travel agency, with the owner – known by guests as Tan – providing personalised recommendations and help arranging local activities. The resident dog adds to the hostel's warm, homely feel, and the ground-floor cafe-style space makes it easy for guests to connect. Good to know: W168 also offers luggage storage, which is a handy option for travellers who need to check out before a late flight or are passing through Phuket between destinations. Given its small size and consistent popularity, booking well in advance is advisable, particularly during the high season between November and April.

A great stay all around. Clean and comfortable beds, that are made each day by housekeeping. Rooms are equipped with fans, aircon and curtains and also a black out curtain so it stays dark inside during the day for those needing sleep. The owner is really helpful and even gave us little treats throughout or stay as well as a gift for New Year. The coffee is also delicious and ended up having one each morning without fail. Location is also ideal, so close to the bars, shopping and restaurants. Loved our stay! Connie the resident pup is also a plus- be sure to check out the photos of her meeting the king and queen all over the lobby 😅 🐕 ❤️
Myself and girlfriend had the best stay here at the hostel, perfect location in the old town Phuket, our host/owner Tan was brilliant she gave us so much information on where to visit and helped us get the best/ cheapest option from the airport. All her recommendations made our short stay in Phuket worth it. Not only was she a brilliant host her dog is a little heart throb! The rooms was decent size and nice and clean and was by far the comfiest mattresses we’ve slept on since being in Thailand! This hostel is a must!
Really lovely hostel, very relaxed and calm. I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm. The young staff working downstairs were absolutely lovely. Super friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this to any female solo-travellers! Really close to the streets in the old town you want to explore and there’s a delicious restaurant a one minute walk down the street for some Thai food. Felt very safe both in the hostel and around on the streets. Definitely book this place if you’re looking for a couple nights stay in the old town!

Book Shoulder Season

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
