Situated along the river in the Pak Phraek area of Kanchanaburi, D Hostel draws travellers seeking a peaceful retreat with genuine hospitality. The property's standout feature is its riverside terrace, where guests can unwind with sweeping water views in a setting that feels both serene and restorative. The modern interiors are consistently praised for their cleanliness and thoughtful organisation, making it a comfortable base for exploring the wider Kanchanaburi region. The atmosphere here is notably calm and welcoming, shaped in large part by the warmth of the staff. Owners and team members go out of their way to assist guests with local tips and onward travel arrangements, creating a community feel rare in budget accommodation. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning, offering genuine value for those keeping an eye on costs. Guests have highlighted both the quality of the food and the generosity of the portions. It is worth noting that D Hostel sits roughly 30 minutes on foot from the main town centre, across the river. However, several guests suggest hiring a bicycle as an easy and enjoyable solution, and the trade-off in distance is more than compensated by the tranquil surroundings and river views. Travellers planning to explore popular Kanchanaburi sites such as the Bridge on the River Kwai or Erawan National Park will benefit from asking the knowledgeable staff for guidance before heading out.

Love love this hostel! Staff is very nice, breakfast food is plenty, clean rooms, and the location is superb. Although a bit far from the town, going there via a bike is easy. It was nice to catch the sunrise from my room! There was an eatery at left side on the main road (with a red sign as of now) that offers delicious meals. Although they don’t speak English they are very approachable and accommodating. I booked a tour from P’ Dump that covers all the interesting sights in the area and it was very fun. If ever I’m going back to Kanchanaburi, I’d stay here again.
Wow this hostel was honestly incredible. Stunning location on the river where you can feel calm and recharge. The staff are lovely people and they create such a calming space inside. The place is immaculate inside, modern, super clean, comfy cosy beds (an actual quilt) and big beautiful clean showers and toilets. A very good price too. Also a delicious breakfast included and always have access to free hot and cold water. Wow this place is a dream would definitely recommend! Thankyou :)
The view is absolutely breathtaking — the place is spotless, well-organized, and beautifully modern. But above all, the owners are truly wonderful people, as are the staff. Toa and Jarr helped me with everything I needed and were always so warm and friendly. I honestly feel like I’m leaving friends behind rather than just checking out.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
