Rachadamnoen Road runs through the middle of the old city, which means temples, the moat and the night bazaar side of town are all walkable, and on Sundays the Walking Street market sets up along this very stretch. If you've ever tried to get a songthaew across town on a Sunday evening, you'll understand why that matters.

The hotel itself leans design-led rather than traditional Lanna, with rooms and communal spaces built around a clean, contemporary look. There's a European bistro-style restaurant on site and an open-air bar for the end of the day, plus a fitness centre that stays open around the clock. Reception runs 24 hours too, which is handy given how many flights into Chiang Mai land at unsociable times.

My advice: it suits people who want to be in the walls, walk everywhere and come back to something polished. If you want a pool-and-garden resort feel with space to spread out, look further from the centre.
