Asia Scenic Thai Cooking School
Asia Scenic Thai Cooking School offers one of Chiang Mai's more immersive cooking experiences, going well beyond a standard kitchen class. Sessions typically begin with a guided visit to a local market to explore fresh produce, followed by a drive to a garden or farm where participants encounter the herbs, spices, and ingredients that form the backbone of Thai cuisine. This combination of market, farm, and hands-on cooking gives the experience a depth and context that sets it apart from shorter or more classroom-focused alternatives. Cooking takes place under the guidance of instructors consistently praised in visitor accounts for being knowledgeable, warm, and engaging. The facilities are well-equipped and clean, and participants cook and eat a varied selection of authentic Thai dishes throughout the session. Classes run approximately four and a half hours, though reviewers frequently note the time passes quickly given the variety of activities involved. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a comfortable choice for solo travellers, couples, and those with little prior cooking experience. Good to know: The school operates daily from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, offering reasonable flexibility for different itineraries. Booking ahead is strongly advised, particularly during Chiang Mai's peak tourist season from November through February when demand is highest. Wear comfortable, practical clothing suitable for standing, working near heat, and handling fresh ingredients. I took part in a Thai cooking class on 09.02.2026 and I can honestly highly recommend it. The class was very well organized, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the whole cooking experience was a real pleasure. All the dishes we prepared were absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and the mango sticky rice was outstanding – easily one of the best I’ve had in Thailand. Special thanks go to Marium, who led our group. I really loved her attitude towards the participants – she was kind, warm, and always smiling, while at the same time showing an impressive level of knowledge about Thai cuisine, which she shared in a clear and engaging way. She is also a beautiful person, inside and out, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip 😊
My husband and I enjoyed an amazing time cooking a variety of thai dishes with Tommy today. We started the morning at the market in Chiang Mai looking at the produce and then drove 40 minutes north to their farm. It was very interesting to see how these different vegetables and herbs are grown. Then we were carefully guided through cooking 6 thai recipes. Tommy made the experience fun as well as informative. We then sat down as a group to enjoy the lunch that we had prepared ourselves. I look forward to trying out the recipes back at home and sharing them with family and friends. I would thoroughly recommend Tommy and Asia Scenic 😋😋😋
My partner and I took a cooking class and it was a beautiful, fun, and extraordinary experience. The facilities are equipped with everything you need, very clean, and there's plenty of food. They guide you through each step of the recipes. We made five spectacular dishes and one dessert—more than we could eat! The staff is so fun, friendly, and sweet; they teach with so much love. We took a little piece of Thailand home with us in our hearts, so grateful for the wonderful experience we had.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
