At Chiang Mai - SHA Extra Plus

4.4(503 reviews)

Situated on Ratvithi Road in Chiang Mai's historic Old Town, this hotel offers travellers a convenient base within walking distance of temples, markets, and the city's main cultural attractions. The property leans into a distinctly Asian aesthetic, featuring dark carved wood throughout its interiors and warmly furnished rooms that reflect a traditional Thai style. A cozy restaurant, outdoor pool, garden, and poolside bar round out the on-site amenities, giving guests reason to unwind between explorations.

Rooms are noted by guests as spacious and well-kept, though it is worth knowing that many rooms lack exterior windows, with natural light available only through bathroom openings. Beds tend toward the firmer side, which is common in Thai hotels and suits some travellers well. The staff receives consistent praise for being friendly and genuinely helpful, and the included breakfast has been a highlight for family guests in particular. The hotel also operates a cocktail bar, adding a social element for those looking to relax on-site in the evenings.

Travellers considering At Chiang Mai should be aware that the decor and facilities reflect an older design sensibility, and those expecting a modern, contemporary hotel may find it does not meet that expectation. However, for visitors prioritising location, value, and a characterful atmosphere over sleek minimalism, it presents a solid option. Checking the hotel's website directly for room types and current package inclusions, such as breakfast, is recommended before booking.

Reviews from Google

We stayed here for 2 weeks as a family of 4. A very nice hotel for the price and location. Friendly and helpfull staff, great breakfast, lovely pool, and a beautifull garden. Beds are hard (as they seem to be everywhere in Thailand). Our room was nice and comfortable, and so was the bathroom. The only real issue in this place, is the noise in the hotel. It is extremely noisy, and you can hear everything (walking outside, talking in other roms, doors being closed, drawers being opened and closed etc.) It is a lovely hotel overall, and we will most certaintly stay here again next time we visit Chiang Mai.

Its a traditional hotel in the old town, walking distance to many touristic points. Rooms and bathrooms are big, clean, very beautifully decorated. No windows in the rooms, only in the bathroom but that was not an issue as the room was airy enough. The only issue was that there was no sound insulation, the walls were paper thin and because of the specific of the hotel, with wooden doors, the noise from outside was quite loud. Luckily enough, the hotel staff is aware of this and they put noise canceling ear plugs in the room :) Breakfast is varied and hotel staff can also help with booking different trips from Chiang Mai.

This hotel was in a good location with nice staff. It was in the old town of Chiang Mai so very walkable with a night market nearby. We also got free breakfast at the hotel. However I feel like it shouldn’t be a four star hotel. The shower would leak out water into the bathroom floors and the bed was also hard. Walls are also paper thin so you could easily hear noises coming from your neighbor. The room also had a weird and musty smell the day we arrived.
