Compare prices
Tucked into the heart of Chiang Mai's ancient walled city on Prapokklao Road, Viang Luang Resort offers a peaceful retreat without sacrificing proximity to the city's most iconic landmarks. Guests can walk easily to Wat Chedi Luang, the Sunday Walking Street, and Tha Phae Gate, while a 14th-century Buddhist temple sits at the end of the road. The hotel grounds function as a small green oasis within the city, shaded by trees and plants that set it apart from typical urban accommodation. Rooms are spacious, cleanly maintained, and warmly decorated, with reliable air conditioning, strong Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast with fresh fruit options, and an outdoor pool provides a welcome respite after a day of exploring. Staff consistently receive praise from visitors for being helpful and attentive. The hotel carries a lived-in character that some guests describe as dated, though many find this adds to its charm rather than detracting from it. Viang Luang Resort sits approximately 5 kilometres from Chiang Mai International Airport, making arrival straightforward. For those prioritising location above all else, the address places nearly every key attraction in the old city within comfortable walking distance. Early booking is advisable during the peak cool-season months of November through February, when demand for well-located old-city accommodation runs high.

Visitor Reviews
This is a beautiful little hotel in Chiang Mai city. The grounds are a tiny little oasis full of trees and plants inside the city. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff is wonderful. The hotel has a small pool. Breakfast is mostly Thai food (noodles, congee, fresh fruit, stir fried vegetables) and they also had toast, juice, and ham and sausages and yogurt. Everything was delicious. My wife and I thought the hotel was quite lovely and romantic.
Very charming little hotel in the heart of the old town. The location is just perfect- you can easily walk to all most important places in Chiang Mai city. The rooms are very spacious and clean with comfortable beds and fantastic outside space. The staff are top notch. We were going for overnight jungle trek so we checked out and they kindly stored our bags and kept my injection in the fridge.
Good location in the old city. A 14th century Buddhist temple at the end of the road. Worth visiting. My Room is spacious. Wifi is strong. Breakfast is nice with choices of two types of fresh fruit. Personally, I prefer eating Thai dishes for breakfast. They serve fried eggs and omelette daily. Didn't eat any of the western dishes since I eat it at home. Pool is surrounded by a garden. Paid 200 baht for a Grab fare from the airport to hotel (20 minutes). Bring ear plugs because sounds tend to echo but that's a minor issue. Overall, it's a clean hotel with good amenities and service. There's a Chiang Mai Gate night market walking distance from the hotel which is a must visit.
