Drink Rooftop Bar
Perched on the second floor of U Chiang Mai Hotel along Rachadamnoen Road, Drink Rooftop Bar sits in the heart of the Old City, just steps from Chedi Luang Temple. Despite the rooftop branding, the space is more accurately an elevated open terrace — but the views down the street more than deliver, particularly on Sunday evenings when the famous Walking Street market fills the road below. The bar leans heavily into its cocktail program, with drinks that are as visually striking as they are refreshing — think florals frozen into ice cubes and a menu broad enough to include virgin options. The food menu also draws praise, with some visitors pleasantly surprised by the quality of Western dishes alongside Thai offerings. Opinions on value are mixed, with some finding prices steep relative to the cocktail quality, while others rate the overall experience highly. A practical tip worth knowing: Drink Rooftop Bar offers a set-your-own happy hour promotion, giving guests 50% off for the first hour they are there — making it a smart stop for an early evening drink before exploring the Old City. Arriving around sunset on a Sunday, when the street market is in full swing below, is widely considered the best time to visit.

Visitor Reviews
Came here for the view of the Sunday street market, stayed for the incredible food and service! Everything we ate was fantastic. Spaghetti Carbonara was better than any I’ve had in the United States - we dug in so fast we didn’t even get photos! Tom Yum soup is a slept on local favorite and was voted the top dish by everyone at the table. Service was top notch - Louis was amazing! Come here if you want a great experience!
Stopped by @Drink Roof Top Bar after walking around an old city. It located on the 2nd floor of U Chiang Mai Hotel and next to Chedi Luang Temple. I picked the virgin mojito and it was so refreshing and my friend took the draft beer with french fries which was also amazing and reasonable price. I'll be back again for sure.
Fantastic cocktails! A little pricey but they do a "set-your-own-happy-hour" which is 50% off for the first hour you are there. Cocktails are visually beautiful (there was flower in my ice cube!) and tasty. Worth a visit!

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
