This place fixes that by burying a resort garden directly behind Siam Paragon, with saltwater pools and enough greenery that the traffic stops existing once you're inside.
The rooms to ask about are the ground-floor cabanas, which open straight onto the pool. That's a genuinely rare thing in central Bangkok, and it's the reason I'd point families here over the riverside hotels. Nobody has to trek anywhere to swim, and the malls are a covered walk away. Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin handles dinner if you want modern Thai done at Michelin level, though it's a proper occasion restaurant rather than somewhere to wander into in flip-flops.
If your trip is built around shopping, Siam Square and Sea Life, this is the address to beat. If you came to Bangkok for old temples and river life, you'll be commuting a bit.
