Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

4.7(2,781 reviews)

Ask for a high floor with a clear aspect when you book, and put it in writing. That's the one recurring gripe here: the rooms themselves are large, spotless and properly designed, but plenty of guests end up looking at a neighbouring high-rise, a parking garage or a bank of generators. Even a loyalty upgrade doesn't guarantee you'll dodge it. Everything else about the place tends to land well.

The address on Thanon Ratchadamri is about as useful as central Bangkok gets. You can walk to the BTS, to CentralWorld and Siam Paragon, and to Lumphini Park when you want trees instead of shopping malls. There's a spa, and the hotel runs banquets, events and weddings, so it draws business and celebration crowds as well as holidaymakers. The food gets consistent praise, as does the concierge and front office, who seem genuinely good at restaurant bookings and last-minute changes. Service isn't flawless across the board. One reviewer describes a crowded check-in area with no privacy and a long wait for the room, so arriving mid-afternoon rather than at peak is sensible.

Reviews from Google

Our stay at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok was truly exceptional and easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. From the moment we entered the room, the sense of luxury and space was immediately apparent. The room was beautifully designed, impeccably clean, and incredibly spacious, making it a joy to relax in. A special highlight was the thoughtful birthday surprise arranged in the room. The beautiful setup and attention to detail made the celebration feel very personal and memorable, and it was a gesture we truly appreciated. Breakfast was absolutely top notch and deserves special mention. The quality, variety, and presentation set a new benchmark for hotel breakfasts for us—it was easily among the best we’ve experienced. The location is also very convenient, with CentralWorld just a comfortable 10-minute walk away, making it easy to explore the city while enjoying a peaceful and refined stay. An outstanding hotel that delivers luxury, comfort, and heartfelt service at every level. Highly recommended.

My stay at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok was nothing short of perfection. What truly impressed me was their exceptional concierge and front office team. They handled all my pre-arrival requests seamlessly, including bookings for popular restaurants and spa treatments, ensuring every detail of my itinerary was perfect. Moreover, when I unexpectedly needed to extend my stay, the team handled it with incredible grace and flexibility, making sure I felt completely at ease despite the last-minute change. The kindness and professional care I received here are truly rare. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for their sincere hospitality. They don't just provide a room; they provide peace of mind. I cannot wait to return to my favorite home in Bangkok.

The location is outstanding. Close to major shopping centres and BTS stations, right in the heart of the city. Staff – Friendly but inconsistent execution The team is very friendly and tries to follow up on requests. We received a honeymoon cake, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. Check-in – Not five-star standard The check-in area was extremely crowded and lacked privacy. We were seated directly next to other guests, which did not feel premium. After check-in, we waited 35 minutes for our luggage. It never arrived. We had to call and then wait another 15 minutes. This is not acceptable for a hotel in this category. Room condition – Below expectations The bathroom blinds were clearly broken and were not addressed during turndown service. Only after informing our PA was an engineer sent the next morning. Several elements in the room appear glued and are already coming loose. The toilet remote holder was damaged. These details matter at this price point. Breakfast – Very strong Breakfast is excellent in terms of variety and quality. Mango sticky rice, pastries, fruits, desserts, drinks, and cooked dishes are all very good. However, it is very crowded. Turndown – Inconsistent Snacks were provided only on the first night, not on the second. In a hotel of this level, consistency is expected. Slippers were placed on only one side of the bed despite two guests occupying the room. On the positive side, personal bathroom items were neatly arranged on a white towel, which was a nice touch. Overall While the location and breakfast are strong, the operational inconsistencies and room maintenance issues do not match the pricing or five-star positioning. Based on our recent stays at comparable luxury hotels (in Bangkok), this experience falls short and we would probably not go for this Hotel in the future.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
