Smart Cook Thai Cookery School
Situated in the popular beach area of Ao Nang, Smart Cook Thai Cookery School offers hands-on cooking classes that go well beyond a standard tourist activity. Students learn to prepare dishes from scratch — including Thai curry paste, spring rolls, pad Thai, and soup — guided by instructors who are noted for their clear explanations, patience, and entertaining teaching style. The small group format keeps sessions personal and relaxed, giving participants genuine attention throughout. The atmosphere is consistently described by visitors as friendly and fun, with instructors bringing both culinary knowledge and genuine warmth to each class. Guests cook and eat multiple dishes during a single session, making it as much a tasting experience as a learning one. Evening classes are available, making it a sociable way to spend a night in Krabi while picking up skills that translate directly to cooking Thai food at home. Good to know: Advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly during peak season when classes fill quickly. Comfortable, casual clothing suitable for working in a kitchen is a practical choice. As opening hours, pricing, and class schedules can vary, contacting the school directly before arrival is advisable to confirm availability and what each session covers.

Visitor Reviews
Our evening cooking class at Smart Cook was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our stay in Thailand. The class took place in a small, intimate group, which created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere from the very beginning. We were guided through the cooking process by the wonderful Gataii – a very kind, smiling, funny, and welcoming woman who instantly made everyone feel comfortable. Her positive energy and sense of humor turned the whole evening into not just a cooking class, but a truly joyful experience. During the class, we learned how to prepare five traditional Thai dishes step by step. Everything was clearly explained, hands-on, and easy to follow, even for beginners. As a lovely bonus, we received the recipes to take home, so we can recreate these amazing dishes anytime we miss Thailand. We learned a lot, laughed even more, and enjoyed every single moment. This cooking class was the perfect mix of learning, fun, and delicious food. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Ao Nang who wants to experience Thai cuisine in an authentic and enjoyable way!
We joined a cooking class as a group to learn how to prepare Thai food and to discover more about Thai cuisine. The chef was fantastic! He explained everything clearly and shared lots of interesting facts about Thai dishes, ingredients, and spices. The cooking experience itself was amazing – hands-on, fun, and very well organized. I would highly recommend it to everyone! The only downside was that our group had 10 people, and there were two other groups at the same time, so there were quite a lot of participants overall. However, everything was very well organized. We cooked at different stations
Wonderful experience! The cooking class was very well organized and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The instructor was incredibly patient, explained everything clearly, and had a great sense of humor, which made learning really enjoyable. All the dishes we prepared were delicious and it was a pleasure to taste everything we cooked. I will definitely try to recreate these recipes when I return to Poland. And the mango sticky rice was absolutely the best! I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn about Thai cuisine and spend a fantastic time. Joanna
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
