Railay West Beach

Railay West Beach sits on the Railay Peninsula in Krabi, a stretch of white sand enclosed by dramatic limestone cliffs and lush jungle that can only be reached by longtail boat. Its isolation from the mainland — caused by the cliffs that make road access impossible — gives it a character quite different from more easily reached beaches in the region. The calm, clear waters and towering rock formations make it one of the more visually striking spots along the Andaman Coast, and the area is well known among rock climbing enthusiasts who come to scale the surrounding cliffs. Visitors will find a range of cafes and restaurants along the beachfront, making it a comfortable place to spend a few hours. The western side of the peninsula tends to be calmer and more accessible than some neighbouring beaches, though it does attract crowds during peak hours. Some visitors have noted that sharp rocks near the waterline can make wading in less comfortable, so water shoes are worth considering. The practical essentials are straightforward: longtail boats depart regularly from Ao Nang pier and cost around 200 baht per person for a return trip. Arriving on one of the first boats of the day is the best way to enjoy the beach before crowds build. Visitors should also be mindful of the tide, as the sea can come in significantly, so setting up close to the water's edge is not advisable. The beach is accessible throughout the day with no set closing time.
