Baan Thapae Boutique Resort and Thai Relax Massage
Tucked along Thapae Road Soi 3, just a short walk from the old city moat, this boutique resort and massage spa draws visitors looking for both a comfortable place to stay and a genuinely restorative wellness experience. The combination of hotel accommodation and traditional Thai massage under one roof makes it a practical and appealing base for exploring Chiang Mai, with guests consistently noting the warmth and attentiveness of the staff as a defining part of the experience. The massage services here have earned particular praise from visitors with professional backgrounds in physical therapy, who highlight the technical quality and care taken during treatments. The property itself features gardens that create a calm atmosphere from the moment guests arrive, and the rooms are described as well-appointed and comfortable. Breakfast is available on site, and the central location puts guests within easy reach of the old city's temples, night markets, and main attractions. Good to know: Baan Thapae Boutique Resort sits just outside the east gate of Chiang Mai's historic moat, making it a convenient location for both relaxation and sightseeing. As this is a small boutique property, booking accommodation or massage treatments in advance is advisable, particularly during the busy high season between November and February. Those visiting purely for a massage, rather than a stay, are encouraged to contact the resort directly to confirm availability and treatment options.

Visitor Reviews
My wife and I just spent five days in Chiang Mai. The location is fantastic, just outside the old city. Rooms were nicely appointed. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very average. Tuk tuk driver Mon was awesome. He took us to a number of Temples , a butterfly, and orchid park, and a working silk Village.
This one the best! ❤️ I'm a physiotherapist, and as in the technical perspective the massage I got here was the best quality and healthiest I've ever had in Thailand. The place is beautiful, the owner is so sweet, and the massage therapists are wow! I like that people ☀️🫶🏾
Wow, what a wonderful experience. The calm as you walk in the gardens and bright welcome from the staff is outstanding. The massage was excellent and I came out more relaxed and mobile. The extra little touches of tea and mango were great. Highly recommend
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
