Why go, and how to do it well
Caturday is the cat café most visitors to Bangkok end up at, a couple of minutes from exit 2 of BTS Ratchathewi on Phaya Thai Road. A large family of resident cats wanders the room and sleeps on the shelves, and the café sells cat treats. The menu is café food and desserts, with Thai-tea flavors and coffee, and it is child-friendly, which makes it a popular stop with families.
House rules keep the cats comfortable. Shoes come off at the door, the cats are not to be picked up or woken, and no human food goes to the animals. Busy periods can come with a time limit, and reports differ on whether there is an entry charge or simply a minimum order, so check at the door.
It is closed on Mondays and opens at midday on weekdays and 11:00 at weekends. After-school hours and weekend afternoons are the busiest, so a weekday lunchtime is the calm time to go.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
