Hard Rock Cafe Chiang Mai

4.2(1,290 reviews)$$$$

Sitting on Loi Kroh Road in the heart of Chiang Mai's nightlife strip, this outpost of the global Hard Rock brand delivers classic American dining and live rock music in Thailand's northern capital. The open frontage onto one of the city's busiest evening streets means guests can eat and drink while watching the crowds pass, with a live band playing inside to fill out the atmosphere. It is a reliable option for travellers wanting something energetic and familiar without straying far from the city's more traditional offerings. The menu follows the international Hard Rock standard, with American staples including burgers, hot wings, and homemade bread drawing consistent praise from visitors. The kitchen maintains the kind of quality consistency that makes the brand recognisable worldwide, and service is noted for being fast and attentive. Pricing sits at the mid-range level typical of Hard Rock locations globally, so travellers familiar with the brand can budget accordingly. Good to know: Live music lineups rotate daily, so it is worth checking the Hard Rock Cafe Chiang Mai Facebook page before visiting to see who is playing on a given night. The venue is quieter during the afternoon and comes into its own once the evening crowd arrives. Its central position on Loi Kroh Road makes it easy to fold into a wider night out, with plenty of other bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Visitor Reviews

As good as always, the quality of food is always consistent. The place is well located in the middle of the bazaar, and I enjoy the view of passer-by accompanied by the live band. This is another kind of experience and definitely worth spending my whole night here. I ordered the pasta with a local Chiang Mai twist and it turned out so amazing! The burger was made so fresh and the pride sunrise cocktail is one of a kind and inspiring. Amazing!

Great classic American food. I love hot wings. Home made bread for the variety Burgers are superb. Live rock music is different each day please check direct through Hardrock FB.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
