Why go, and how to do it well
Cafe Phuket Viewpoint hangs off the hillside on Phrabaramee Road, the coast road climbing north out of Patong toward Kalim and Kamala, and it's built for one thing, the view straight down over Patong Bay. The terraces step down the slope in levels of daybeds, nests and little platforms, and the famous swing launches you out over the drop with the sea behind you. It's the most photographed café in Phuket for that shot.
Go for the view and the sunset rather than the food. The menu is Thai and Western café dishes, cakes and smoothies, and reviewers split on the cooking, with the scenery doing most of the work. Expect a minimum order to get a table and separate fees for the photo extras; one recent visitor paid ฿100 for the swing, ฿200 for a dress rental and ฿200 to have the staff shoot the video. It's open daily from 10:30 to 19:30, so a late-afternoon visit catches the light on the bay before closing.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
