Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Why go, and how to do it well
Bangkok's Amulet Market is a warren of covered alleys between Maha Rat Road and the Chao Phraya, beside Wat Mahathat, where dealers sell Buddhist amulets, charms and talismans to a mostly Thai crowd. Collectors lean over the trays with jeweler's loupes, checking a piece the way a coin dealer would, and prices run from about 20 baht for a souvenir to serious money for an old, well-known amulet.
I'd treat it as a sight more than a shopping trip, a window on how seriously many Thais take protective amulets, and the stalls trade every day from about 9am to 5pm. It's an easy add-on to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho to the south, and the Tha Chang and Tha Maharaj piers on the Chao Phraya Express boat are a few minutes' walk away.
