Wang Lang Market
Tucked into the Bangkok Noi district on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wang Lang Market is a sprawling outdoor market that draws a predominantly local crowd and rewards curious visitors willing to navigate its narrow, bustling laneways. The market is best known for its exceptional variety of Thai street food, from crispy kanom bueng to countless snack stalls and small restaurants, making it a genuine destination for anyone wanting to eat well without straying into tourist-facing territory. Beyond food, the market also offers clothing, everyday goods, and the kind of street-level atmosphere — tailors working in the open, vendors calling out, alleys packed with activity — that defines traditional Bangkok market culture. Wang Lang Market is open daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm, though visitors note that many stalls wind down in the early afternoon, so arriving in the morning gives the fullest experience. Its riverside location makes it easy to combine with other major sights: the Chao Phraya ferry stops nearby, providing straightforward connections to the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and ICONSIAM. First-time visitors may find the market's layout disorienting, as the alleys are tightly packed and not always well signposted, so allowing plenty of time to wander is worthwhile. Cash is recommended, as most vendors operate without card payment facilities.

Visitor Reviews
It's an interesting market to walk. It's not easy to go there by your own & I am fortunate to have a local bringing me around. Very cheap crispy small Kanom Bueng that cost only B$40 for 11 pcs. It was a good snack. We can find coke in glass bottles & the coke taste is so much better than those in plastic bottle or aluminium can. Will attempt to go again.
This is a large local market located right across from Sanam Luang. The atmosphere is friendly and lively, with a huge variety of food stalls and restaurants. You can find many famous and delicious spots here, along with plenty of newly opened places. The area has been recently renovated and now looks much better than before, while still keeping its authentic Thai vibe. If you want to try different kinds of Thai food, I highly recommend this place. You can walk around, explore, and grab something to eat anytime. Just a short walk away, you’ll get a beautiful view of the Chao Phraya River with boats passing by, which adds to the charm of the area. There aren’t many air-conditioned restaurants here, so it can be a bit hot, but that’s part of the real local experience. Overall, it’s a great place to visit for food, sightseeing, and enjoying the true Thai atmosphere.
A very nice market. Many locals with a few tourists visible. Been here twice ie at 9am on Saturday and again, at 1pm on Monday. Can't seem to get enough of wandering around the alleys. Items sold here are normal vegetables, fruits, snack, clothings, bedsheets, toys, shoes, shirts, handbags etc. There are many shops selling noodles and economy rice. Vendors here speak mainly Thai. Be prepared to use translation. It is almost similar to Chatuchak but a smaller scale ie 10% the size. Souvenirs? Hardly find any as it is mainly for the locals. Best part, one will not get lost here. Accessibility? Better use taxi, grab ride as there is no BTS or MRT. If alone, can try out motorcycle taxi or Grab motorcycle. If one is fortunate, and able to get assistance from a local market goer who speaks English or whatever second language, then it is easier.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
