Saxophone Pub & Restaurant

4.6(6,461 reviews)$$$$

A long-standing fixture on Bangkok's live music scene, Saxophone Pub & Restaurant has built a reputation as one of the city's most beloved jazz and blues venues. Situated on a quiet soi just off Ratchawithi Road in the Phaya Thai area, it draws a loyal crowd of both locals and international visitors who come for the nightly live performances from talented resident and guest musicians. The atmosphere is energetic yet intimate, with audiences regularly singing and dancing along — the kind of night out that tends to become a travel highlight rather than a footnote. Visitors can expect a full bar and an extensive food and drinks menu at mid-range prices, making it easy to settle in for the evening rather than just stopping by. The cocktails draw consistent praise, and the casual, unpretentious setting means it works equally well for solo travellers, couples, and groups. While the performances are largely covers, the quality of musicianship is a recurring theme in visitor feedback. Good to know: Saxophone is conveniently located near the Victory Monument BTS Skytrain station, making it straightforward to reach from most parts of central Bangkok. Live music typically picks up in the evening, so arriving after 8 PM gives the best chance of catching a full performance. As with most live music venues, schedules can vary, so arriving early to secure a decent seat during busy periods is a sensible approach.

A Timeless Gem: An Unforgettable Night at Saxophone Pub If you're looking for an authentic Bangkok experience that transcends the usual tourist trail, look no further than the legendary Saxophone Pub near Victory Monument. This isn't just a bar; it's a cherished institution that has been captivating locals and visitors alike for an incredible 30 years. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that speaks of decades of musical passion. The main attraction, as the name suggests, is the live music. And it is nothing short of spectacular. The talented musicians, often featuring soulful saxophonists, deliver performances that are truly "ดีงาม" – rich, captivating, and deeply moving. Whether it's smooth jazz, blues, or classic tunes, the music here has the power to transport you to another world. But Saxophone Pub is more than just a feast for the ears. The food is delicious, offering a satisfying menu of Thai classics that perfectly complement the vibe. The drinks are absolutely okay – expect well-made cocktails, cold beers, and a great selection to keep you refreshed throughout the night. What truly completes the experience is the exceptional service. The serving staff are wonderful – attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring your glass is never empty and your evening is seamless. In a city that's constantly changing, Saxophone Pub stands as a beautiful constant. It's a place where you can feel the history in the walls, lose yourself in world-class music, enjoy great food and drinks, and be looked after by a fantastic team. Do not miss this iconic spot. An absolute must-visit for anyone seeking the true soul of Bangkok. Highly recommended!

I was looking forward to go to the legendary jazz pub weeks before my arrival in Bangkok. Boy old boy this place did not disappoint. The music, although mostly covers, was amasing and the even played a special request I made. I enjoyed both bands and left the place at closing time around 2. Only downfall I overspend on my budget, but was it worth it, yes every cents. Lost of locals at the pub and a few very interesting characters lol. Tip to management, upgrade your merchant service devise please. I had to walk to an atm to draw cash as my card and google wallet did not work on your device. It is not nice nor safe in my view. The staff was brilliant, we had a female waitress and she was amasing , pity I did not get her name. Food and achohol is are reasonably priced . Will I go back , hell yes, next time I will dance lol.

Lovely place, great atmosphere, good service and great live music. The cocktails were very good and reasonable price considering the place. The menu was quite extensive in both drinks and food. They also provided virgin versions of most cocktails for those who don't drink. Highly recommend, for a date or to come with friends. The music was loud enough to be enjoyable but you're still able to listen to the people at your table, the cocktails were perfect in my opinion with just the right amount of alcohol, not so strong. I wasn't expecting the food to be soo good, we only got some spicy pork to share but it was absolutely delicious.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars

Carry Your Passport or a Copy

Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.

Know the Closing Times

Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.

Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously

Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
