Saxophone Pub & Restaurant
A long-standing fixture on Bangkok's live music scene, this beloved pub and restaurant has earned its reputation as one of the city's go-to destinations for jazz and blues. Tucked along a quiet soi just off Ratchawithi Road in the Phaya Thai area, it draws a loyal mix of locals and international visitors night after night, united by a shared enthusiasm for live performance and a genuinely good time. The atmosphere is energetic and unpretentious — the kind of place where audiences end up singing and dancing along without much encouragement. Live performances are largely covers, but the standard of musicianship draws consistent praise from visitors. A full bar and an extensive food menu at mid-range prices make it easy to settle in for the whole evening rather than just passing through. Cocktails in particular come up repeatedly as a highlight, and the casual setting suits solo travellers, couples, and groups equally well. Good to know: Saxophone is a short walk from Victory Monument BTS Skytrain station, putting it within easy reach of most parts of central Bangkok. The live music typically builds momentum in the evening, so arriving after 8 PM gives the best chance of catching a full performance. During busier periods, arriving a little earlier to secure a decent seat is a sensible move, as the venue fills up once the music gets going.

This isn't just a bar; it's a cherished institution that has been captivating locals and visitors alike for an incredible 30 years. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that speaks of decades of musical passion. The main attraction, as the name suggests, is the live music. And it is nothing short of spectacular. The talented musicians, often featuring soulful saxophonists, deliver performances that are truly "ดีงาม" – rich, captivating, and deeply moving. An absolute must-visit for anyone seeking the true soul of Bangkok. Highly recommended!
I was looking forward to go to the legendary jazz pub weeks before my arrival in Bangkok. Boy old boy this place did not disappoint. The music, although mostly covers, was amasing and the even played a special request I made. I enjoyed both bands and left the place at closing time around 2. Only downfall I overspend on my budget, but was it worth it, yes every cents. Lost of locals at the pub and a few very interesting characters lol. Tip to management, upgrade your merchant service devise please. I had to walk to an atm to draw cash as my card and google wallet did not work on your device. It is not nice nor safe in my view. The staff was brilliant, we had a female waitress and she was amasing , pity I did not get her name. Food and achohol is are reasonably priced . Will I go back , hell yes, next time I will dance lol.
Lovely place, great atmosphere, good service and great live music. The cocktails were very good and reasonable price considering the place. The menu was quite extensive in both drinks and food. They also provided virgin versions of most cocktails for those who don't drink. Highly recommend, for a date or to come with friends. The music was loud enough to be enjoyable but you're still able to listen to the people at your table, the cocktails were perfect in my opinion with just the right amount of alcohol, not so strong. I wasn't expecting the food to be soo good, we only got some spicy pork to share but it was absolutely delicious.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
