Phaka Krong Authentic Southern Thai Cuisine
Situated on Phuket Road in the Mueang Phuket district, this family-friendly restaurant has built a strong reputation for serving genuine Southern Thai cooking that stays true to regional traditions rather than catering to tourist expectations. The kitchen draws on southern Thailand's distinctively bold, spiced culinary heritage, producing dishes that reflect how locals actually eat rather than adapted versions softened for international palates. Visitors consistently highlight the crab fried rice and fried squid as standout dishes, alongside a broader menu designed to be explored as a group — ordering several plates to share is the recommended approach. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with staff noted for being particularly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, often offering guidance on dishes and occasionally extending small gestures of hospitality to guests. Prices are considered reasonable relative to the quality on offer, and the dining room suits both family outings and casual meals with friends. Good to know: Opening hours differ slightly on Tuesdays, when the restaurant opens at 3:30 PM rather than the standard 11:30 AM start time maintained the rest of the week. All days close at 9:00 PM. Arriving closer to opening time tends to offer a more relaxed experience before peak dinner service. The restaurant maintains an active Facebook page at the address listed, which is worth checking for any updates before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
This restaurant offered the best of everything. Foods were very delicious; service was very outstanding; and prices were reasonable. We reached on Sun around 11.20 (opened at 11.30). Started with professional allergies question (much appreciated) followed by serving of complimentary appetiser (delicious penapple with chicken on top). We ordered the following very tasty meals ... Crab Curry, Fried Garlic Onion Squid, Pork Stew (the only one can compete with Dong Po Pork in Wuxi), Crab Friedrice, Belinjo Leaves. Portions were not small. Our table was attended and served closely. We were also offered 2 rounds of complimentarily desserts. It costed us around THB 1,700+ for 3 persons (pretty reasonable). To play safe, you may want to do reservation but for us we went without. This is definitely a must go restaurant in Phuket. Cheers.
The culinary experience offered here is truly something special, showcasing the best of Thai cuisine. Every dish appears to be carefully crafted, providing a symphony of flavors that delight the senses. The presentation of the food is also noteworthy, demonstrating a commitment to aesthetics. The ambiance of the restaurant further enhances the dining experience, creating a relaxing environment. One can appreciate the dedication to authenticity in every aspect, from the ingredients to the preparation. It's a place where one can savor the rich culinary heritage of Thailand. You're likely to find yourself planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. Overall, it's a fantastic restaurant to enjoy.
One of the best Thai restaurants in Phuket! The lady who served us throughout our meal was lovely and gave us insight on the dishes we ordered. Everything was so tasty, and the crab fried rice was delicious. We had complimentary dessert that was the cherry on top of a wonderful meal and experience. Great service and would highly recommend coming here! Thank you for the great service and hospitality!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
