Royal Phuket City Hotel

Excellent stay at this hotel, close to sunday night market and very nice views from the rooms of phuket town. Excellent breakfast every day, 2 nights here amazing breakfast. We are vegeterians and seemed to be the only vegans in a fully booked hotels full of east asian and european tourists, the chef cooked vegan spring rolls just for us and vegan dishes at breakfast. Also no mest dishes for dinner I also was a little sick on my first night here due to some street food and the chef was kind enough to send the best congee i have ever tasted in my travels across asia. The best part was very less indian tourists hardly 1-2 ,almost everyone else was chinese,korean,jap or european/american. That made our experience even better. We also got 1 free coconut water per person per day for our duration of our stay. Lovely hotel.

Booked for a day only but Everything was perfect about this place. Room: was at 14th floor, Serene view of the city & ocean. Smoking is prohibited, a must know. Service: Staff courteous, the room safe had setting issue which they resolved immediately. Didn't even ask for any security. Breakfast: Ultimate buffet, loved it. Location: Best to roam around Old Phuket, where the vibe is ecstatic and city is both peaceful & lively. Verdict: Extremely happy for the price.

The hotel is in a great location with walking distance to Old Town and Sunday Walking Night Market. The reception area is modern and clean and staff very helpful. The rooms are dated but clean with plenty of space. The two eating areas I visited had very dark decor, painted in dark blue and black; found this an atmosphere killer. The breakfast area has black cupboards which show an excessive amount of handprints which gives the impression of uncleanliness. The breakfast isn't great; found it surprising that they only had one loaf a day of wholemeal bread for the entire guests. The food in the Chinese restaurant was delicious. The pool is clean and a fair size. However there are only 16 sun loungers, several of which were damaged. Some guests we unable to relax after a swim due to no beds. The sun parasols are totally impractical, unable to be moved so offer no shade once the sun moves. If you just want a room then I would recommend. If it's a holiday and you want to relax then maybe consider another hotel till the pool situation is sorted.
