Royal Wellness Spa

4.9(275 reviews)

Situated on the third floor of the Royal Phuket City Hotel along Phangnga Road, this spa offers a convenient wellness retreat in the heart of Phuket's main urban district. Guests can expect a clean, professionally run environment staffed by experienced therapists, with a welcoming touch that includes complimentary tea on arrival. Signature offerings include Thai massage, back and shoulder treatments, foot scrubs, and combination packages such as massage and exfoliation wraps, making it a practical choice for travellers looking to recover and recharge without leaving the city centre.

The spa draws a mix of hotel guests and outside visitors, and the atmosphere is described by regulars as cosy and calm. Staff are noted for their attentiveness and professionalism, and the consistent experience across treatments contributes to its strong reputation among repeat visitors. That said, some guests have noted variation in technique depending on the therapist assigned, so those with specific preferences may benefit from requesting a therapist by name when booking.

Open every day from 10am to 10pm, the late closing time makes it well suited for visitors who prefer to schedule treatments after a full day of sightseeing or business. Booking in advance is advisable during peak tourist seasons, particularly for popular treatment packages. The Phangnga Road location also provides easy access to nearby dining and shopping for those planning a longer evening out.

This is the place to come ! Had a great experience here and with masseuse Eed 🙌 I was served with tea upon arriving and was taken in right away. I started with a foot scrub and wash then onto a Thai (sport) massage. It was the pressure I was looking for and it even put me to sleep. It was the kind of massage you didn’t want to end 😭 That being said, the massage was the best I’ve had in my stay in Thailand 🇹🇭 10/10 recommend !

Wowwwwww!!! The absolute BEST massage I’ve hear in Thailand. Worth every cent. We will be back again before we leave it was so good.

We were hotel guests and wanted to treat ourselves to a professional massage. I chose the 60-minute back and shoulder massage and was quite disappointed. For almost the entire 55 minutes, the same technique was used, in the same rhythm. The massager pressed on different parts of my body with the palm of the hand, elbow, presumably knee, etc., holding briefly, then releasing, then pausing again. Then, a few centimeters further along, they pressed again, held briefly, released, paused, and repeated the process… I know this as one of several techniques, but almost the entire massage consisted of the same sequence, which is completely unfamiliar… no balm or oil (which was used occasionally in other shoulder/back massages in Bangkok, Krabi, etc., even if it wasn't an oil massage), no fingers, no circular movements, and not enough depth to penetrate the muscles. About half the time, pressure was applied to my lower body, which I didn't understand at all considering the massage I had chosen. My shoulders were only treated for the last five minutes (while the timer was already beeping), and even then, only the neck muscles were worked on, not the sides of my neck or anything like that. I was really disappointed, and the worst part is that the rooms are equipped with a pillow, and you can only rest your head sideways on it! This means that while they're working on your back and neck, your spine is crooked, which unfortunately led to more tension than relaxation. Even for a hotel spa in this higher price range, I'm disappointed and wouldn't go again. But the spa was clean and there was something sweet afterwards; my mother was very satisfied with the foot massage.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
