Beanstay Hostel

4.9(41 reviews)

Tucked along Thanon Dibuk in the heart of Phuket Old Town, Beanstay Hostel has earned a strong reputation among budget-conscious travellers looking for a clean, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming place to stay. The hostel strikes a balance between social atmosphere and personal space, with dormitory beds fitted with individual curtains to offer a degree of privacy that many hostels overlook. Guests consistently highlight the warmth and attentiveness of the staff as a standout feature, alongside the quality of the on-site café. The café serves a varied food menu alongside well-crafted coffee, with the barista drawing particular praise from visitors. The overall vibe leans relaxed and friendly, making it a comfortable base whether travellers are passing through or spending a few days exploring the area. The Thanon Dibuk address places guests within easy reach of Phuket Old Town's Sino-Portuguese architecture, local restaurants, and street food. Given the hostel's small size and positive word of mouth, booking in advance is advisable, particularly during the high season between November and April when Phuket sees its highest visitor numbers. For last-minute arrivals, it is worth checking availability directly, as the location alone makes it a practical and well-positioned choice.

Visitor Reviews

Hello everyone, please take the time to read this entire message. I give my word to be honest in my comment. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to do so this time. I stayed at this guesthouse for a month. The photos and reviews don't lie; the place is exceptional. The guesthouse is very clean, including the restaurant, dormitory, and private rooms. The food is really very good. The showers and toilets are cleaned frequently throughout the day, and the shower pressure and temperature are good. The Wi-Fi works in all rooms, the mattresses are comfortable, there are individual electrical outlets and lights in the dormitory, and curtains for privacy. The dormitories are well-heated. The staff is very friendly, and the owners are very helpful. I've been traveling for 20 years and have stayed in hundreds of guesthouses in my life. I can assure you that you won't find better in Phuket Old Town for the same price. I recommend it 100%

I booked this place last minute, the location was too convenient. I was ultimately stunned by the cleanliness, the efficiency and smoothness of the place. Staff were incredibly helpful and kind. They ask you for your choice of breakfast and was prepared to a high quality, very rare for free breakfast in a hostel. I felt extremely safe as a female traveller and super comfortable in this place, i will gladly return.

Lovely hostel with such a nice vibe! Was genuinely quite shocked as I haven’t enjoyed the last few places I stayed in Phuket but I was welcomed nicely with a great sized bed to rest. Lovely cafe downstairs with excellent coffee and possibly the best breakfast I’ve had at any hostel. Not sure the social side as unfortunately it was just the night before my flight but would definitely recommend.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
