Phuket Sunny Hostel
Compare prices
Tucked along Thanon Dibuk in the heart of Phuket Old Town, this well-regarded hostel draws budget travellers looking for affordable, centrally located accommodation with genuine character. Its position in the old town puts guests within easy walking distance of local shops, bars, restaurants, and the area's distinctive Sino-Portuguese architecture, offering a more authentic slice of Phuket life beyond the resort strips. Rooms and bathrooms are described by guests as basic but clean, which sets realistic expectations for a hostel at this price point. What consistently stands out in visitor feedback is the staff, who are repeatedly praised for going well above and beyond — from helping stranded late-night arrivals to providing directions and local recommendations for guests without mobile phones. The atmosphere is social and welcoming, making it a natural choice for solo travellers in particular. Reception operates daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so travellers arriving outside those hours should plan accordingly and arrange late-arrival details in advance. The old town location provides convenient access to songthaews and other public transport links for day trips to Patong Beach and surrounding areas. Booking ahead is advisable during peak season, roughly November through February, when accommodation across Phuket fills quickly. Note that a neighbouring property, Beanstay Hostel, appears on some booking platforms nearby, so double-check the address when reserving to avoid confusion.

Visitor Reviews
This might be the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at! We originally booked one night just to see how it was but immediately extended our stay once we got here. The staff are so welcoming and helpful, particularly with where you might want to eat or go to! Think this is why we just kept coming back to book again, we just felt like they genuinely wanted us to have an amazing time. Rooms and bathrooms are super clean as well. It’s such a good location for the Old Town as well.
I mistakenly booked for its neighbour Beanstay Hostel (careful if you are booking in Booking.com). It was the middle of the night and I was desperate as I travel alone and have nowhere to sleep. Two hosts were welcoming and accepting me in a room with extra bed added. I am glad I got accepted in this hostel instead. Affordable, homely, clean, friendly English speaking receptionist, a lot of informations for tourists (see pictures), and free cold drinking water!!! (very considerate)
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff for being so incredibly helpful during my visit. I didn’t have a phone with me, but they went out of their way to give me directions and recommend great places to go. Their kindness and effort really made my experience so much easier and more enjoyable. I’m so grateful for their patience and local knowledge — it truly made all the difference!

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
