Savoei - A Taste of Pai

4.8(218 reviews)

Savoei - A Taste of Pai offers hands-on Thai cooking classes in the heart of Pai, giving travellers a structured and genuinely engaging way to learn regional cuisine. Classes focus on traditional dishes and techniques, including the preparation of curry pastes from scratch — a highlight frequently mentioned by visitors. Instructors are noted for being knowledgeable, attentive, and comfortable teaching in English, making the experience accessible to international visitors of all cooking skill levels. Classes are available in two and three-hour formats, with the longer option typically covering three dishes per participant. The curriculum allows some flexibility in dish selection, so visitors can tailor the experience to their interests. The setting reflects Pai's relaxed character — informal and welcoming without sacrificing substance. Families have attended successfully, with at least one reviewer bringing a toddler, suggesting the environment is reasonably accommodating. Good to know: The venue opens seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, offering sessions across most of the day. As no website is listed, booking directly in person or by visiting early in the day is advisable, particularly during Pai's busier tourist season between November and February when activity slots can fill quickly. The address is recorded as a plus code, so saving the location in Google Maps before heading out is recommended given Pai's less formally signposted streets.

What an amazing experience! We had so much fun, great value for the money. May the lovely and professional instructor and her assistants gave us attention all the time. May speaks english so well. They also gave us many fruits, fruit shakes, water bottles during the class. Everyrhing was perfect. And after 3 months in the. east this was the best pad thai so far. Highly reccomended ❤️❤️❤️ חברים ממליץ בחום! and you get an additional cooking book with all the dishes

A wonderful cooking experience - a must do while in Pai!! The dishes we made were sooo delicious, you can choose out of so many dishes what you'd like to cook. Explanations were provided in English & we were given a little recipe book so we could take them home with us. It was really fun, interesting, and exceptional value for money. I will happily do this again to try some different cooking next time we are in Pai. Thank you Savoei team 🙏🙏🙏

We had fun doing the 3 hour class which allowed us to cook 3 dishes each. It was well organized and hands-on. It was a lot of fun learning how to make the curry pastes. We had a 2 year old with us and they were very kind to help keep her entertained so mom could cook. I think it is well worth the price.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
