Café De Pai
Café De Pai sits in the Wiang Tai area of Pai town and has earned a reputation as one of the more versatile dining spots in this northern Thai mountain retreat. What sets it apart is the breadth of its menu — visitors return on consecutive days and find something different to order, with Mexican dishes, Indian food, Western breakfasts, and fresh smoothie bowls all drawing consistent praise. The generous portions and reasonable prices are frequently highlighted, making it a practical choice for travellers watching their budget without wanting to compromise on quality. The setting leans into Pai's characteristic laid-back charm, offering a comfortable place to linger over coffee while watching the town go by. Breakfast draws particular enthusiasm, with fresh fruit, eggs, and good espresso-based drinks forming a strong morning offer. The smoothie bowls are a standout item worth seeking out specifically. Service is described as attentive and efficient, which is notable for a café that clearly handles a steady flow of visitors. Café De Pai opens at 8am and stays open until 10pm every day of the week, making it a flexible option across all meal times. Given its popularity and central location, arriving during off-peak hours — mid-morning or mid-afternoon — is likely to mean a more relaxed experience with easier seating. There is no website listed, so advance reservations are not an option; it operates on a walk-in basis.

Visitor Reviews
We chance upon this cute cosy restaurant in Pai and the food was so so good . We had a lovely breakfast with many fresh fruits, good eggs, sausage and cappuccino . It was so delicious that we ate dinner and breakfast again on the next day . For dinner , we had the pork steak and chicken jerky burritos . Both were prepared and cooked to perfection and beautifully presented . As usual , every plate in the restaurant was totally clean up as we enjoy every ingredient on the plate. Will totally recommend this place !! We saw a few customers who were also very impressed with the food and came back for more !!! Good job to all the friendly staff to hold such a high standard of food and service in Pai !
Best smoothie bowl I’ve ever had. It was insanely good and the portion is generous. Do yourself a favor and try one while you’re in Pai. The Indian food is also super tasty. The service was fast and the staff is super nice. So glad we found this place!
I highly recommend this place! We came here two nights in a row for Mexican food, and it was absolutely amazing, they large, delicious, and satisfying dishes at great prices. I’ll definitely come back here to eat again next time I’m in Pai!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
