AYA Service PAI
Situated on Chalsongkram Road in the heart of Pai, this travel agency serves as a practical hub for independent travellers looking to arrange onward transport or book day trips into the surrounding Mae Hong Son province. The minivan service between Pai and Chiang Mai is a standout offering, with visitors consistently noting punctual departures, comfortable vehicles, and safe driving on the winding mountain roads — a journey of roughly three and a half hours. Walk-in bookings for the Pai to Chiang Mai route are available at 150 baht per person when purchased in person at the office. Beyond transport, AYA Service organises locally guided excursions to attractions such as Lod Cave and Pai Canyon, with reviews highlighting professional guides and well-run operations. The central location makes it easy to drop in while exploring town, and staff can assist with itinerary planning based on available timeframes and interests. Good to know: The office is open every day from 8 AM to 9 PM, so same-day bookings are possible, though arriving early improves the chances of securing a preferred departure time. One reviewer noted a ticketing error where the wrong departure time was recorded — always double-check the time printed on your ticket before leaving the counter to avoid missing your journey.

Visitor Reviews
150 baht if you book in person from the Pai to Chiang Mai minivan - can’t beat it!! I traveled with AYA roundtrip to Pai twice and had a great experience every time! It is about a 3.5 hour journey with a 15 min rest stop half way for a bathroom break. They leave on time and drive safely. 3 out of the 4 times I had this sweet and iconic driver, I forget his name but he was awesome! He says he’s been driving everyday for 20 years 🫨🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 what a king!!
I used the Aya bus from Chiang Mai to Pai, it was comfortable, safely driven and on time. Once I arrived, I booked the Lod caves and Pai canyon trip. It was amazing, very professionally run by the guides etc, lots seen in one day. Both were spectacular. But be careful at the canyon, there are steep drops but you don't have to go over those routes if you choose not to.
I used the service to get from CM to Pai and back. Everything worked well, I had a safe trip and the driver was on time. Everything as expected. Can recommend and would always use it again

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
