Nature Life @ PAI
Every evening, two streets near Chai Songkhram Road close to traffic and fill with vendor stalls selling food, clothing, souvenirs, and handmade crafts. The range of cuisines on offer is a consistent highlight among visitors — Thai, Japanese, Korean, Western, Mexican, and Halal options are all represented — and the quality and variety draw comparisons to larger night markets in Chiang Mai. The mix of travellers and locals gives the market a relaxed, social atmosphere that fits well with Pai's character as a laid-back mountain town. Standout food finds include the Burmese roll from a salad truck known locally as Kwanskie's, which currently operates without a sign but is worth seeking out. During local festivals and annual celebrations the market becomes significantly busier and more energetic, which some visitors find adds to the experience. Outside of those periods, the pace remains unhurried and easy to navigate on foot. Good to know: the market runs seven days a week from 4pm, so there is no need to plan around specific days. The streets tend to get noticeably livelier from around 6pm onwards, making that the better window for the full atmosphere. Bring cash, as most small vendors are unlikely to accept card payments.

Visitor Reviews
Pai is just a great town. Full of very relaxed people. You have to rent a scooter there so you can visit the canyon, waterfalls and other tourist attractions. The walking street at night is full of food stalls where you can eat all kind of nice things.
So many amazing food stall vendors and quirky shops! You have to try the Burmese roll from the salad truck "Kwanskie's" (see pictures, the stall currently doesn't have a sign), it packs a punch of flavour! Great place to just have a wander around.
It's a must to explore this Walking Street if you are in Pai. So many food to try, you can choose : Thai, Japanese, Korean, Western, Mexican, Halal Food. And it's extremely cheap comparing with Bangkok or Chiang Mai & delicious. Also a good place to buy souvenirs, trinkets, handmade products, clothes, painting. Don't forget to buy postcards, and send it directly at 1 shop that sells the stamp too. The sellers are polite & friendly and some can speak good English. Open everyday from 6-10PM.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
