Ali Baba Restaurant
If you've been in Ao Nang a few days and the fried rice is starting to blur together, this is the fix. It's a halal kitchen doing Indian and Pakistani food alongside Thai dishes, and the Indian side is what people keep coming back for. Chicken jalfrezi, lamb and chicken karahi, mutton biryani, tandoori tikka, butter chicken. There's also a tandoori pizza, which sounds like a gimmick and isn't, judging by how often reviewers single it out.
Vegetarians and vegans do well here too, which is rarer than it should be on this strip. The chickpea salad gets specific praise. Virgin cocktails are on the list if you're not drinking, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream tends to arrive at the end without you asking. Service gets mentioned as much as the food, with the owner doing the rounds. Prices are mid-range and the portions justify them.

Reviews from Google
We’ve been to Ali Baba three times now and it never disappoints. The tandoori pizza was amazing, and the chicken jalfrezi was full of flavor. The lamb and chicken karahi were also very good and cooked perfectly. If you’re craving Indian or Pakistani food, this place is definitely worth a visit. The owner was very friendly and came over to check that everything was okay, which we really appreciated. Suraj, our waiter, was amazing and provided great service. Highly recommend Ali Baba — we’ll definitely be back again!
I only knew about it from Instagram, someone listed it as one of the best restaurants in the Ao Nang area. And I was craving a good Biryani. So I tried it out and they didn't not disappoint at all. It was really really good. I was on my own .. so I couldn't try out anything else. But all the food that was served around me looked great.
Had a good lunch here. Servers were friendly and attentive. The tandoori tikka was very good as was the mutton biryani & butter chicken was decent. Enjoyed the virgin pina colada. Would return here again. And they give a free scoop of vanilla ice cream at the end which is nice.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
