The dining room

4.9(193 reviews)

Nestled in the Maret area of Koh Samui, The Dining Room appears to be set within a resort property, offering guests and visitors an elevated dining experience that combines Thai and French cuisine in a setting with sweeping sea views. The atmosphere is notably peaceful, with guests frequently remarking on the tranquil surroundings, birdsong, and warm, attentive service from a dedicated front-of-house team. Whether visiting for a casual lunch or a more formal dinner, the setting lends itself to a relaxed yet refined experience. The menu draws praise for its range and quality, spanning classic Thai dishes such as Pad Thai and traditional desserts like Kluay Buat Chee, alongside what appears to be French-influenced fine dining options. Staff are consistently highlighted in visitor reviews for their friendliness and anticipatory service, contributing to an atmosphere that feels genuinely hospitable rather than transactional. The restaurant is open every day from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, accommodating lunch, dinner, and everything in between. Good to know: The Dining Room is located within what reviewers describe as a resort-style property, meaning the full experience — including the pools and sea views — may be most accessible to guests staying on-site. Independent visitors planning to dine here are advised to contact the venue in advance to confirm access and reservation availability, particularly during peak tourist season on Koh Samui.

Visitor Reviews

The bar and dining room are outstanding. You're always greeted warmly, and your every need is anticipated. The sea view is breathtaking. It's wonderfully peaceful, and you can hear the birds chirping. Breakfast and dinner leave nothing to be desired and are prepared with impeccable hygiene. You can choose from both Thai and international options for breakfast and dinner. The bar is modern and stylish, offering great drinks prepared with care.

We check out today, sad to leave this beautiful place. This is our 3rd trip to Thailand & the food in this restaurant is outstanding. We had a complimentary 3 course dinner included in our package the food was exceptional, Bluberry tart & lime mousse to die for. The staff here are wonderful nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in room 514 lofty swim up pool, just stunning some days we did not want to leave the room.

The food here is absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of dishes ranging from savory to sweet. I highly recommend trying the Pad Thai, which is perfectly balanced in flavor, and the “Kluay Buat Chi,” a traditional Thai dessert of bananas in coconut milk. Both dishes are wonderfully prepared and truly highlight the restaurant’s quality. A great place for anyone who loves food

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
