Why go, and how to do it well
Chef Ple is a small storefront at the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 18, about six minutes on foot from BTS Asok and Terminal 21, and it has become the Sukhumvit answer to a mango craving at an hour when the famous shops have shut. It is a fruit counter rather than a café, with a prep window, a couple of small tables beside it and most orders going out as takeaway. The rice is served warm with salted coconut cream and freshly cut mango, and staff will pack the fruit and rice separately if you are carrying it back to a hotel.
Prices sit in the normal Bangkok range, around ฿100 for a regular box and ฿140 to ฿150 for a large, with whole uncut mangoes and fruit smoothies also on the counter. It is the practical pick if you are staying around Asok, Phrom Phong or Nana and do not want to cross town for the heritage names.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
Use Grab for Delivery
The Grab app works for food delivery across Thailand, letting you order from street stalls and restaurants alike. It's invaluable on rainy days or when you want to eat in your hotel.
