Bamboo Bar
Tucked into the Bo Put area of Koh Samui, this relaxed cocktail bar and pub stands out for an unlikely but well-executed combination: affordable drinks alongside both authentic Thai dishes and genuinely good Italian food. The Italian-Thai ownership shapes a menu that stretches from spicy curries to wood-fired-style pizzas, with the latter drawing particular praise from repeat visitors who return specifically for it. Tiramisu rounds out the Italian side of things, making this more of a full dining destination than a straightforward bar. The atmosphere leans casual and unhurried, with guests regularly settling in for hours at a stretch. Staff are noted as friendly and attentive, and the pricing across both food and drinks stays firmly in budget territory — cheap beers, reasonably priced cocktails, and shareable plates that deliver solid value. The music adds to the appeal without overwhelming conversation, making it comfortable for families, couples, and solo travellers alike. Good to know: Bamboo Bar opens daily at 12:30 PM and closes at 11:30 PM, so it suits an early evening meal as easily as a late-night drink. There is no website, meaning drink specials or any entertainment on a given night are best confirmed by stopping in. Being in Bo Put rather than the busier Chaweng strip, the crowd tends to be quieter and more neighbourhood-oriented — a worthwhile trade-off for anyone wanting a relaxed night without the tourist-area noise and pricing.

Visitor Reviews
Came in for drinks as it was outside our hotel, friendly staff and good deals so we came back another night for food. We had a pizza and fries to share which was outstanding, best pizza we have had during our 5 week trip so far. Authentic Italian ingredients and thin and crispy with a delicious crust and plenty toppings. Was surprised just how good it was. Had some cocktails from their extensive choice which were great and only 139 baht each. Their Thai food coming out also looked great. This is a hidden gem that is definitely worth visiting.
Having travelled to samui for the past 20 years and stayed in many areas of the island, I have got to say without doubt: this place does the best pizza’s on the island. Beer is cheap, cocktails are well priced and tasty plus the owners and staff are super friendly: don’t miss out; visit, we did 4 out of our 5 nights here👍
We stayed at a nearby resort and our family had dinner at Bamboo Bar twice. The food is absolutely delicious, both Thai and Western. The pizza is amazing, so is the tiramisu. Ownership is Italian/Thai which explains the attention to detail on both sides of the menu. Service is very friendly, efficient and attentive.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
