The Gin Run

5.0(85 reviews)

Tucked within the Centara Koh Samui resort on Chaweng Beach, The Gin Run has carved out a reputation as one of the island's most dedicated gin experiences. The bar sets itself apart with an extensive selection of house-made, flavour-infused gins drawing on both local and international inspiration — from tea tree and chamomile blends to other creative infusions that reflect the flavours of the region. Visitors can expect a cocktail programme that goes well beyond the standard beach bar offering. The drinks are carefully balanced and show clear attention to craft, with bartenders who clearly know their way around a gin-forward menu. The signature Tea Thyme cocktail has earned a loyal following, with some guests returning to the island specifically to drink it again. The atmosphere leans towards relaxed and refined rather than loud and lively, making it a good fit for those who prefer conversation over crowd noise. On the practical side, The Gin Run offers a happy hour deal with a one-for-one promotion that represents solid value given the quality on offer. As the bar is located within a resort property, it is worth noting that access is generally open to outside guests, but checking ahead is advisable during peak season. Given its location in Chaweng — Koh Samui's busiest strip — it provides a more considered alternative to the area's louder nightlife options.

Visitor Reviews

The Gin Run at Centara Koh Samui is an absolute standout and a must-visit if you love a well-crafted cocktail. The drinks were exceptional and beautifully balanced, creative, and clearly made by bartenders who really know their craft. Every cocktail we tried was smooth, fresh, and thoughtfully put together, making it hard to pick a favourite. That said, the Chamomile Sour deserves a special mention as it was outstanding. Perfectly balanced between floral, citrusy, and silky smooth, with a really elegant finish. It was one of those drinks you keep thinking about long after the glass is empty. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and genuinely top-tier drinks. If you’re in Koh Samui and enjoy quality cocktails, The Gin Run is absolutely worth a visit. 🍸✨

This bar might just serve the best cocktails on the whole island. We absolutely fell in love with the Tea Thyme and other amazing drinks, so much so in fact that we returned to Samui two years later just to visit this bar again. The service was also very good, especially with Susie the barkeeper and her know-how when it comes to drinks. I highly recommend to visit during Happy-Hour and give it a try!

We were absolutely obsessed with this place. It was my first time trying gin infused with tea tree and chamomile, and it was genuinely unforgettable—deeply relaxing, beautifully balanced, and incredibly delicious. Every sip revealed perfectly layered notes, crafted with the finesse of truly exceptional cocktails. A unique experience that stayed with us long after the last glass. Highly recommended.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars

Carry Your Passport or a Copy

Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.

Know the Closing Times

Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.

Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously

Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
