Fisherman's Village Night Market
Set along the characterful streets of Bo Put on Koh Samui's north coast, this nightly walking street market draws visitors with a well-rounded mix of food stalls, fresh seafood cooked to order, souvenir and jewellery vendors, bars, and beachfront restaurants. The surrounding neighbourhood retains a quieter, more genuine feel than the island's busier tourist centres, giving the market an atmosphere that many travellers find themselves returning to multiple times during a single stay. The market runs as a walkable strip along the beachfront, where visitors can graze on Thai street food, browse handicrafts and gifts, stop for a drink at a beach bar, or sit down for a full meal with sand underfoot. On busier nights the number of stalls expands noticeably, adding to the energy along the street without overwhelming the relaxed pace that defines the area. Good to know: the market operates every night of the week from 6 PM to 10 PM, so there is no need to plan around a specific day. Arriving between 6 PM and 7 PM tends to offer the best vendor selection before crowds build. Most stalls are cash only, so carrying Thai baht is strongly recommended. Comfortable footwear is advisable for walking the length of the street. Bo Put is a short drive from central Koh Samui and pairs well with an early evening walk along the beach before the market gets fully underway.

Visitor Reviews
The night market in Fisherman’s Village is without doubt one of the highlights of Koh Samui and a place we returned to multiple times during our stay. What makes this night market special is not just the food and shopping, but the overall atmosphere. The market stretches along a long part of the beachfront and the main street, creating a lively yet relaxed setting with the sea right next to you. In the evenings, the area is largely closed to cars and scooters, which makes it safe, walkable, and very enjoyable to explore at a calm pace. The food options are excellent and varied. There is a wide selection of local street food, fresh seafood, Thai classics, snacks, desserts, and international options. Many of the small stalls are run by locals, and the quality is generally very good. Prices are reasonable, and it’s easy to try several dishes in one evening. Beyond food, the market offers a nice mix of handicrafts, souvenirs, clothes, and small local products. It feels more authentic and less chaotic than some of the larger night markets elsewhere, and it never felt overwhelming despite being popular. Another big plus is that the night market manages to stay lively without being noisy. Even with many visitors, the atmosphere remains relaxed and friendly, making it suitable for families, couples, and groups alike. It’s also easy to combine the market with a walk along the beach or a visit to one of the nearby cafés and restaurants. Overall, the Fisherman’s Village Night Market offers a perfect balance of local culture, food, and atmosphere. Whether you come for dinner, an evening stroll, or just to soak in the vibe by the sea, it’s absolutely worth a visit — and likely more than once.
Located in Bophut, Koh Samui, the Fisherman's Village Night Market (also known as the Bophut Walking Street) is one of the island's most popular weekly events. If you begin your journey at the walking street end, be sure to continue all the way down and into the actual markets where you’ll find endless food options and live music. It is generally family-friendly and more relaxed than the nightlife hubs in Chaweng, though the narrow streets can become extremely crowded on Friday nights. Main Walking Street: Primarily held every Friday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM with smaller scale markets held on Monday’s and Wednesday’s.
One of the best markets to check out! Fisherman Market has an awesome selection of restaurants and take-out spots, with so many great options to choose from. There are also lots of vendors selling jewelry, purses, clothes, shoes, and fun trinkets, making it a great place to browse and shop. The variety and lively atmosphere make it such a fun place to walk around and explore. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
